Taylor Swift's final show is two weeks away. Here's what fans think she will announce.

#TaylorSwiftIsOverParty is the hashtag that triggers a generation of Swifties.

This one moment, when Taylor Swift was spectacularly and thoroughly cancelled, ruined so much for her legion of fans.

While it may have brought us the majesty that is Reputation, Taylor Swift's sixth studio album, fans have a theory that Swift was gearing up to release an entirely different album when she spiralled out of popularity in July 2016 over the 'Famous' phone call saga with Kanye West

Taylor went underground, and the two-years-between-records rule that she'd observed since she released her debut album went out the window.

She released nothing in 2016.

Instead she spent the year in angst, writing a comeback album for the ages, which was Reputation, released in 2017.

But, all signs point to the fact that she did in fact have another album all ready to go when the world came crashing down around her.

Here's what we know about the alleged missing 'Karma' album, and why Taylor Swift fans think she might announce it before she announces Reputation (Taylor's Version)

Why fans think Swift has a secret 'missing album'.

Taylor Swift had a strict album release schedule until Reputation

From her first self-titled record Taylor Swift to her fifth 1989, the singer had been on a strict release schedule of writing and producing a new album within two years. Just look at her track record:

  • Taylor Swift: October 24, 2006

  • Fearless: November 11, 2008

  • Speak Now: October 25, 2010

  • Red: October 22, 2012

  • 1989: October 27, 2014

Based on this timeline, we would assume that Taylor Swift spent 2015 preparing a new album for release in October 2016. If so, she was never able to release it.

Instead, Swift was cancelled before she could in July 2016.

Whether the record was held because of this cancellation, or because of the breakdown of relationship with Big Machine Records, which happened after this time, we won't know.

"Every domino fell," she told The Guardian in 2019. "It became really terrifying for anyone to even know where I was. And I felt completely incapable of doing or saying anything publicly, at all. Even about my music."

So, what had she been gearing up to?

Swift was in the middle of an Era-rebrand when she was cancelled.

Right before Taylor Swift was cancelled in 2016, she had changed her entire look. Gone were her golden locks in favour of a bleached lob. She went to Coachella (hence why this era became known as 'Bleachella'), to the Met Gala, and she was sporting an edgier aesthetic.

Her new look was on display in a Vogue cover shoot, sold as 'Taylor Swift, how you've never seen her.' It was clear that this new Era was going to be a total vibe change, and one where she accessed a less cookie-cutter version of herself.

She also changed her Instagram profile picture. This kind of pace-change is what Swift fans have come to know as her 'teasing' a new era.

Of course, we never got to see this eventuate.

By the time Reputation came out, she was sporting shoulder-length wavy hair in a bronde colour.

Fans theorise that Swift had been getting ready to release her sixth studio album Karma and that it was scrapped in favour of Reputation the following year. Why do they think this? Let me explain.

What we know about the alleged missing 'Karma' album.

Swift wore a lot of orange and pink during this era.

Throughout 2016, Swift wore a lot of black, pink and orange.

Her 2016 Grammys outfit is a reference point that 'Karma Truthers' (those who believe in the missing album) use to point to this. See below.

Now, if you look at her Eras Tour outfits, Swift has recently debuted a new series of looks including an orange dress and she also has an orange and pink suit.

Interestingly, a lot of her more orange looks have happened alongside a collaborator singer for her 'surprise songs' section, and often they're wearing white (the colour of TS11, The Tortured Poets Department). Is it possible she's trying to hint that the orange comes after the white?

However, we didn't put all of these easter eggs together until further proof came out.

She did '73 Questions' with Vogue and brought up Karma

Taylor Swift did Vogue's 73 Questions in April 2016, which would have been the lead up to when fans think she was going to release her sixth studio album.

It's believed that she was planting an easter egg for the album when she gave one of the answers.

When asked what her biggest life lesson was, she replied, "That Karma's real."

Think what you will but that's pretty obvious to us!

The real easter eggs begin: Look What You Made Me Do music video clip.

'Look What You Made Me Do' was the first single on Reputation and the video clip had a lot of easter eggs for Karma Truthers. She even said in an interview that there were easter eggs from this time that fans still hadn't picked up on.

First, Swift appears in a giant birdcage dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit, appearing to be a caged bird. Fans believe that orange is the colour of the Karma album, and that the scene is a reference to Karma being held in jail, unable to be freed.

There is also a line in the song where she sings, "The world goes on another day another drama (drama). But not for me, not for me, all I think about is karma."

As she sings this lyric, Swift is seen swinging a baseball bat inside a vault, with an orange door behind her. For Swift, vault imagery is synonymous with songs that were never released such as her 'Vault songs' on her album re-records.

Swift also has a black plane at the end of the video, on which she spraypaints the word 'Reputation' and saws off the wings. Fans think this is a metaphor for her needing to ground Karma and produce Reputation instead.

Reputation had an orange vinyl

Interestingly, an exclusive edition of Reputation was made on orange vinyl. Fans believe that this was Swift secretly hinting that the album was supposed to be 'Karma' but was never released.

Others go as far as to claim that she had ordered the orange vinyls already and had them reused for the limited edition of Reputation.

These vinyls are being listed for as much as $4,000 these days.

The Man takes it a step further.

In 'The Man' video clip from the Lover era, Swift is dressed up as a man and pees on a sign in '13th Street Station'.

Graffiti on the wall includes all her album names, but also the word 'Karma', painted twice in orange and black.

Again, fans believe that the orange is in reference to the colour of the 'missing' album.

There is also a reference to her lost music to Big Machine Records' Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun, with a 'No Scooters' sign and another one that reads, "Missing: if found, please return to Taylor Swift."

This suggests that Karma may be amongst her 'lost albums' in the unfavourable record deal, which saw her music sold out from underneath her.

Blake Lively also posed in front of urinals poised on an orange wall, similar to the 'The Man' video and captioned it 'Not A Lot Going On At The Moment', a reference to the quote Swift routinely uses before dropping another surprise.

'Karma' video clip.

Fans were shocked to see the track listing of Swift's Midnights album included a song called 'Karma', where she sings about how all her enemies have karma coming for them, while she doesn't because her conscience is clear.

In the video clip there are several very distinctly orange or orange-and-black scenes.

At one point in the 'Karma' video clip Swift dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, sweeping up leaves as she walks down the yellow brick road. Fans now believe that this is an easter egg given Swift's curated Instagram posts.

Fans have noticed that she now has a series of yellow-themed posts that create a line up her Instagram feeds, much like a 'yellow brick road'.

In the Wizard Of Oz, the 'yellow brick road' leads to the Emerald City, and what is known as the Emerald City? Vancouver, the 'jewel of the West'.

And where is Swift's final Eras Tour performance? In Vancouver, on December 8.

So yes, fans think that this tiny Dorothy scene in a video clip released over a year ago pointed to when she would be releasing this secret album.

TS11 ticking over to TS 12.

Also in the 'Karma' video clip was a close up of a clock. It showed two nails, a blue one (1989 Taylor's Version) and a black one (Reputation Taylor's Version) on the eighth hour and the second hour.

Swift released 1989 (Taylor's Version) in August, the eighth month of the year. So, many fans believe that Reputation won't be announced until the second month of the year, February.

But, on the inside of the coffee, the clock hands show the seconds ticking down to the 12th hour, or Taylor Swift's 12th album.

Basically, fans believe this means that we are getting three album re-records, 1989, Reputation, and a secret album Karma which will make up TS12.

As we get closer to the rumoured announcement, things are getting a little bit more obvious.

In her Lover performance at the Eras Tour, Swift became known for the 'Lover House' — an image of a dollhouse with many rooms and doors all painted the colours of each of her albums.

At the end of her Eras Tour show now, fans have pointed out that an orange door appears in her final song of the set list 'Karma' from the Midnights album.

Fans believe that this means the orange album 'Karma' will be added to the 'Lover House' as a part of her discography.

End of Eras tour announcement tradition.

Taylor Swift is a woman who understands the gravity of a situation.

In our eyes, there's no way that she is going to let the Eras Tour come to an end without capping it off with a big announcement.

And what bigger announcement than that there is a secret record she's re-recorded that is finally being released into the world after eight years. Fans would simply lose their minds.

She announced 1989 (Taylor's Version) at the end of the US leg of the Eras Tour, and it's possible we'll get either Reputation or Debut (Taylor's Version)

But for Karma Truther's there's only one album they want announced, Karma (Taylor's Version).

So…is Karma real?

While fan theories continue to get more and more creative, Swift is known for stringing her fans along with a series of red-herrings.

This is well known as 'clowning', when fans are convinced of something the singer will do that she never, in fact, does.

Is Swift so much of a mastermind that she has kept a secret album for eight years and dropped enough easter eggs over time that fans finally cottoned on?

It's a long shot, but knowing Swift, it's completely possible.
