It would be an understatement to say that it’s been a tumultuous week for the hosts of the Today show.
Yesterday it was announced that Peter Stefanovic would be leaving Channel Nine after a 15-year stint at the network, and today’s reports confirmed that his brother, Karl Stefanovic, will also be stepping down as the host of the breakfast program, a job he’s held for 14 years.
However, now the attention has shifted to the show’s newsreader, Sylvia Jeffreys, who is expected to be the next to depart.
According to News Corp writer, Colin Vickery, a Channel Nine source claims the 32-year-old has been “earmarked to host a new prime time show,” while also hinting that further changes might be in play.
“All of this movement would have to ring alarm bells for others at Nine, particularly the Today team, that a new broom might be about to sweep others up,” writes Vickery.
Entertainment journalist, Peter Ford, also hinted that Sylvia would be leaving the morning show, with Perth-based Nine News presenter, Tracy Vo, tapped to replace her.
As I reported yesterday there is also a plan to also ‘redeploy’ @SylviaJeffreys and @Tracy_Vo is favourite to move east.
