You guys made Glen Powell (and his mum Cyndy) get involved.

Remember when celebrities were interesting? When they did things like fall in love on set, deny all rumours, and then suddenly appear together while their partners mysteriously disappeared from the picture? Well, buckle up, because Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are bringing that energy back.

And I, for one, am absolutely living for it.

Let's get you up to speed if you've somehow missed Hollywood's most enticing "are they or aren't they?" saga.

Sydney Sweeney, of Euphoria fame, and Glen Powell, the charming pilot from Top Gun: Maverick, co-starred in the rom-com Anyone But You in 2023.

What followed filming was perhaps the most chemistry-laden press tour we've seen in years, with the pair practically setting fire to every red carpet they graced. They even joked about the affair rumours on Saturday Night Live and confirmed they'd hammed up the chemistry for the cameras.

All this while Sydney was engaged to producer Jonathan Davino.

Meanwhile, Glen broke up with his girlfriend, Gigi Paris, during the film's shoot — which is either terrible timing or extremely convenient timing, depending on how cynical you are.

And now, reports are saying that Sydney and Jonathon have split, though neither has confirmed this publicly.

The rumour mill is working such overtime that Glen's mum Cyndy has had to get involved.

So, why are we back on the Sydney and Glen train again in 2025?

Because the plot thickened when Sydney appeared at Glen's sister's wedding over the weekend. His. Sisters. Wedding. Let that sink in for a moment.

Sydney was in one of the few photos Leslie Powell shared following the big day.

The news was first reported by Deuxmoi, who had received anonymous tips revealing Glen had been joined by Sydney in Dallas for his sister's wedding. Another source also told Deuxmoi that they had seen the co-stars together at a Vegas hot spot in February.

According to People, Powell's sister Leslie actually worked on Anyone But You and had invited Sydney before her reported split from her fiancé.

"Sydney is close with the entire family," a source told US Weekly, with the unidentified source citing #friendship as the reason for her involvement in the wedding.

Mixed reports, divas.

Now, Glen Powell's mum Cyndy has chimed in to break up the noise.

"They're definitely not together," she told the Daily Mail, describing rumours as "silly."

The pair is just simply "really close friends" she said, adding there was "nothing going on behind closed doors".

"He's the kindest person and he is so others-oriented," Cyndy continued. "He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend."

She went on the explain that they're just really, really good friends.

"They've been friends for so long," she said. "They've known each other for so long and they've both been single and together and with other people. They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point."

After his mum spoke up, Glen himself addressed the romance rumours.

He appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends on Wednesday, when host Jenna Bush Hager teased the star, saying, "The wedding caused a little bit of a stir. Did that surprise you?"

"You know, timing is everything in this world, isn't it," Powell said while laughing. "[Leslie] and Syd are obviously great friends and it was a hell of a wedding."

"The Powells know how to do it right, so all the people that love her were there."

The internet still isn't convinced.

All in all, this appears to be two questionably professional co-stars simply hanging out at a family wedding. Normal stuff, I guess! But the internet is here for the vibes. The drama. The joyous scandal.

There's something so refreshingly old-school about this whole situation. It's giving us Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. It's giving us Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. It's giving us studio publicists frantically making phone calls at 3 AM to keep things under wraps.

Let's call it what it is: This is good gossip. And Hollywood was in dire need.

For years, we've been stuck in an era of carefully curated Instagram posts and celebrities who are terrified of doing anything remotely controversial.

The Glen and Sydney saga, true or not, represents a return to celebrities actually doing celebrity things — messy, chaotic, slightly scandalous celebrity things.

When their Anyone But You press tour went viral, everyone was quick to celebrate that "rom-coms were so back" and "questionable press tours were back."

The whirring rumours of an off-screen romance just took it to another level.

We've collectively become obsessed with beloved Hollywood hotties dating each other. We've lost our minds over Tom Holland and Zendaya. We've swooned over Dua Lipa and Callum Turner. We can't get enough.

What Sydney and Glen are serving up (for the cameras, at least) is something even more intriguing: a main course of rumoured co-star entanglement with a side of possible overlapping relationships.

It's messy, it's delicious, it's exactly the kind of nonsense that makes Hollywood… well, Hollywood.

Now, is everyone is to be believed, the rumours are just that. Rumours.

Neither Sydney nor Glen has ever spoken of anything other than a friendship. They could even be playing us all for an Anyone But You sequel (which would be equally impressive, honestly). They could just be two friends laughing at all this speculation.

But the beauty of celebrity gossip is that the truth is almost beside the point. It's the speculation, the reading-between-the-lines, the amateur detective work of examining every red carpet interaction that makes it fun.

For example, sleuths uncovered that Glen hasn't liked a single one of Sydney's Instagram posts since May 2024 (but he did throw a heart on her cryptic Instagram post captioned "only up from here" which she posted just after the news of her break-up was made public). Detectives, I tell you!

I mean, come on. You can't tell me this man wasn't waiting in the wings…

Regardless, I'm grateful for Sydney and Glen's contribution to bringing back the golden age of celebrity gossip. In an era of sanitised stars, we deserve this chaotic energy.

And if they end up getting married and having beautiful, genetically blessed children together? I called it. And if they never speak to each other again after their promotional duties end? Well, it was fun while it lasted.
