It's the big day! Kate Middleton and Prince William are celebrating Prince George's christening. Led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the 35-minute, private ceremony was at 3pm London time at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace.
We wish we could be a fly on the palace wall for the happy occasion but since only about 50 guests are attending, here are all the photos, plus eight key things to know about the baptism of Prince George.
1. Prince Harry and Pippa are not the godparents. Seven godparents have been chosen and the list is comprised of good friends of the couple as well as one royal, William’s cousin Zara Tindall. Aunt Pippa and Prince Harry did, however, both have readings in the service, according to a release from The Prince of Wales' official site.
2. There will be professional photos. No casual snaps from Kate’s dad this time around. Will and Kate have hired photographer Jason Bell to capture this historic event. His photos of George will be released tomorrow.
3. The prince wore the lacy, ornate (and long!) Royal Christening Robe that’s an exact replica of the one used for Queen Victoria's daughter in 1841.
4. The midwives got an invite. To show their appreciation for a smooth delivery, the royal couple reportedly included the team of midwives from St. Mary’s Hospital, according to US Weekly. Let’s hope it’s not a busy day in the maternity ward!
5. They served wedding cake. After the service, there will be a private tea at Clarence House, where guests will have "christening cake," a tier taken from the couple's wedding cake.
