The 3 new feel-good TV shows to inject a little happiness into your weekend.

Sometimes, we just need to be whisked away to a pretty beachside location, or watch a show that treats New York City like a main character.

And sometimes, a flurry of new TV shows deliver us just that.

Here are three recent TV releases that will make you laugh, cry, and most importantly warm your heart.

Survival of the Thickest.

Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau) is newly single — not by choice! — and unexpectedly finds herself having to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist in New York City.

Despite it all, she's determined to thrive with the help of her chosen family... and some lip gloss.

Frankly, more shows should be like Survival of the Thickest.

It's based on Buteau's acclaimed book of essays, depicting what it is like to navigate dating and career as a plus-size Black woman with her signature humour. Expect on-the-job faux pas, dating highs and lows, lots of laughs and many good-looking people in nice clothes walking around New York City.

Oh, and it's made extra fun by some iconic recurring characters, played by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Garcelle Beauvais and RuPaul's Drag Race's Michelle Visage.

It's a joyful watch you'll want to binge as quick as you can.

The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Belly and the Fisher brothers return for season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty this weekend.

Were you transported to the picture-perfect Cousins Beach when season one dropped last year? If not: the show is based on Jenny Hann's best-selling book series and follows teenager Belly, her family and their family friends, who spend each summer together at the beach.

As Belly finds herself (and finds herself in a love triangle with two brothers), things get complicated.

Season two begins with a rift between Conrad and Jeremiah, but when an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah's beloved house in Cousins Beach, Belly has to rally everyone to come together again – and decide, once and for all, what her true feelings are.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a wistful coming-of-age story that (especially) in season two tackles some more difficult, adult themes, but always with a soft hand and plenty of wholesomeness along the way.

Season one and the first three episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty season two are streaming on Prime Video, with new episodes weekly on Fridays.

The best part is that Wham! makes clear that despite all the talk of fame and success, the most important part of this story is simply a deep, enduring friendship between two childhood pals.
