Supriya Thakur had dreams of becoming a nurse to build a future for her only son.
Everything she did, she did for him.
On December 21, that future was taken from her when she was found dead in her Adelaide home, just days before Christmas.
Police said emergency services were called to a home on West Avenue, Northfield about 8.30pm after reports of a domestic assault.
Officers arrived to find a 36-year-old woman unconscious.
"Officers immediately commenced CPR but sadly, the woman could not be revived," police said.
A friend of Supriya remembered her as a devoted mother.
"She should be remembered as a really, really beautiful mother, as a really good friend," Ella Butler told 7NEWS.
"She would work up to 80 hours a week because she loved her job so much, and she just wanted to bring home as much money as possible so her son could have the best life ever."
A fundraiser has been established to support Supriya's son.
Organiser Belinda Robinson paid tribute to Supriya as a loving mother who worked tirelessly to create a secure future for her boy.
"Everything she did was for him," she wrote.
"Supriya was known for her caring nature and dedication to helping others.
"She worked long hours and had aspirations of becoming a registered nurse, driven by her desire to care for people and create a better future for her son."
Supriya's son was now facing an "uncertain future without the person who cared for him most" Belinda said.
Supriya was the 72nd Australian woman killed this year, according to Sherele Moody's Australian Femicide Watch.
Police said a 42-year-old man, who was also living at the address, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder.
He has been identified as Vikrant Thakur, who is believed to be Supriya's husband, per the Adelaide Advertiser.
Thakur faced Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday and did not apply for bail. He will reappear in April.
