'I've found 6 supermarket hair treatments that outperform my expensive products.'

The 2025 You Beauty Awards are back — and it's time to get voting! In partnership with Myer, we need YOUR say when it comes to crowning the champions of the beauty world.

So before we get into the good stuff, make sure you vote here.

Behind the scenes, our You Beauty podcast hosts (Leigh Campbell, Kelly McCarren, Em Vernem, Sarah Marie Fahd and I) have been testing, swatching and slathering on countless products to narrow down the finalists in each category.

And can I just say, I've uncovered some absolute game-changers along the way — particularly in the haircare department. And goodness, I've found a lot of affordable goodies I wish I'd known about earlier.

Watch: Speaking of You Beauty, here's the dry feet solution you need to know about. Post continues below.

Here's something I've learned from chatting with hair experts over the years: the price tag doesn't always tell the full story. We've been conditioned to believe salon products are superior because they're expensive, while supermarket finds must be inferior because they're affordable. But that's simply not always true! Some budget-friendly hair heroes actually outperform their luxury counterparts.

So I've rounded up six incredible hair treatments I've recently put through their paces for the You Beauty Awards — including a $9 miracle worker that I literally can't stop raving about to anyone who'll listen.

Garnier Fructis Pineapple Hair Drink, $18.

Garnier Fructis Pineapple Hair Drink.

I originally fell in love with the Garnier Banana Hair Drink — but have just discovered the pineapple version for dull hair, and I'm back again to sing its praises. This 10-second rinse-out hair formula works wonders to bring back health and shine. Described as a Lamellar rinse-out treatment, it contains ultra-thin lamellas that fill in gaps in your hair fibre to deeply smooth and polish. The result? Hair that's instantly 10 times more nourished with mirror-like shine.

It cleverly comes with a dosage system on the back for measuring exactly how much you need (because if you're anything like me, you're probably heavy-handed with product). Simply massage it in for 10 seconds and rinse it out.

Even better? You can pick it up from Coles while you're getting all your quality essentials like your sausages and your spaghetti.

TRESemme Lamellar Shine Mask, $17.

This impressive range claims to keep your hair looking 100 per cent more brilliant for up to 72 hours — which is exactly what my perpetually dull, heat-damaged hair has been crying out for. The TRESemme Lamellar Shine Mask is one of the brand's newer launches and offers the perfect boost of moisture and glossiness after conditioning.

Like the Garnier product, this mask uses Lamellar Technology to nourish and smooth your hair for an ultra-glossy finish. It's perfect for an added boost of nourishment once a week after your regular wash routine. Simply massage it through wet hair from mid-lengths to ends, leave for three to five minutes, then rinse for noticeably silkier results.

Glow Lab Leave In Treatment Keratin, $14.

I didn't realise Glow Lab did haircare? But they do?? And it's great?? I gave the Leave In Treatment Keratin spray a whirl — and it's brilliant for thirsty and unruly hair like mine. Formulated to repair, strengthen and condition, the keratin claims to strengthen hair by up to 52 percent, while ingredients like avocado oil, macadamia oil and vitamins B5 and E help to nourish and moisturise. I particularly love that it comes in a handy spray bottle, so you don't have to scoop product from a tub with wet hands.

Pantene Pro-V Intense Miracle Hair Mask Treatment, $15.

I'm a sucker for instant results, and Pantene Pro-V Intense Miracle Hair Mask Treatment seriously delivers. It's one of those products that actually improves with continued use — your hair feels better and better each time. Less frizzy. Shinier. Healthier.

While some masks can feel a tad heavy or greasy, this one is lovely and lightweight and leaves behind a pleasant, familiar scent. It feels waaaay more luxurious than the price tag suggests.

Hairification H24 Complex Leave-In Hair Repair Mask, $20.

If you've read any of my article before (thanks, mum), you'll know I've mentioned this gem multiple times. Available at both Woolworths and pharmacies, it's a fantastic alternative to some other spendy masks on the market (ahem, K18's cult Leave-In Molecular Repair Mask). When I incorporate this into my routine, everything looks shinier, smoother and less frizzy, and I genuinely feel like my hair becomes significantly easier to style.

And at the very attractive price of $20, it's a helluva lot cheaper than some of its high-end counterparts while delivering comparable results.
