A Brisbane mother has lost her unborn child after she was involved in a serious car crash on Friday.
The woman, 30, was a passenger in the Nissan vehicle that collided with a Holden Commodore in Marsden at 7.45pm on Friday. The woman was 38 weeks pregnant when she was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital with police now revealing she lost her unborn child as a result of the crash.
The driver of her car, 39, along with two children – a 10-year old boy and an 18-month old girl – were taken to Logan Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Commodore, a 32-year old man, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. He is currently being treated in Brisbane’s Princess Alexandria Hospital.
Australia will provide Kurdish fighters with munitions to fight against the Islamic State in Iraq.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott says: “The United States Government has requested that Australia help to transport stores of military equipment, including arms and munitions, as part of a multi-nation effort.” Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has described IS as “evil incarnate” and supports the continuation of multi-country efforts to respond to the “humanitarian catastrophe” in Iraq.
The Australian Greens Party is concerned about the multi-nation policy, stating: “It is time for the PM to front the Australian people. We should be an independent nation. We should have an independent foreign policy.”
Aircraft may fly their first mission within days.
