Take a scroll of Instagram right now and you'll notice all the It-girls wearing the same combination of chic accessories.

The duo I can't stop seeing (and screenshotting)? Black shades and weighty gold earrings.

I spy a major trend. Clockwise L-R: @elsahosk; @haileybieber; @rozalia_russian; @megajewelry.

There's something about this particular combo that just makes every outfit look that much more… expensive.

You could be wearing a white singlet and blue jeans, or the most basic black blazer, and simply adding these two items takes your outfit to another level of polished.

In fact, this styling trick will work its magic with anything from workwear to athleisure to whatever you're wearing to brunch.

Case in point: This look from Australian stylist Annabel Falco; statement studs + Gucci shades = chef's kiss.

Hollywood stylist Dani Michelle looks after Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber (to name a few), and her jewellery label Méga specialises in statement gold and silver pieces.

The stylist utilises this combo often, and recently posted an Instagram carousel featuring her favourites.

"A good earring and cool sunnies complete the look. Always," she captioned the post.

Although it feels very current, the look was made famous by Lady Diana in her style heyday — the people's princess was frequently captured out and about in dark sunglasses and large gold circular earrings.

It makes sense that fashionable women are referencing Diana's signature aesthetic again: between the perms and the power suiting, it's safe to say fashion is having a love affair with the 80s.

The era's unapologetic glamour served as inspiration for several designers at the spring 25/26 fashion shows last September, and the influence is trickling into Hollywood, too.

Emerging actor Odessa A'zion's brunette perm has everyone talking, and at the Golden Globes, several male stars including Heated Rivalry's Connor Storrie were seen rocking bejewelled brooches on their tux jackets — another hallmark of 80s style.

So don't be shy. Bigger and bolder is the directive.
