Channel Seven's new reality show is like 'MAFS' meets 'Survivor'.

Channel Seven's new reality show Stranded on Honeymoon Island is finally on its way. This time, it's for real.

The reality dating series, based on a remote South Pacific island and narrated by radio personality Jackie 'O' Henderson, was originally scheduled to premiere in mid-2024.

However, as months passed with no sign of the show in Seven's programming schedules, rumours began circulating about what on earth had happened.

According to Daily Mail reports, the extended delay caused some frustration amongst cast members, who were contractually required to maintain their silence about their participation.

"We were told to keep quiet, no relationships and no social media posts," one anonymous female contestant said in November 2024. "We've all put our lives on hold for this, and now we're just sitting here waiting for a decision."

The contestants claimed that some cast members had moved on during the lengthy postponement period, with one male participant even proposing to his real-life girlfriend while waiting for the show to air. Awkies!

So what is this show that's inspired so much chaos all about then? And when we can expect to watch it all unfold?

What is Stranded On Honeymoon Island?

Stranded On Honeymoon Island will take 12 singles on what Channel Seven describes as a "wild romantic journey."

The format sounds a bit nutty, as it combines elements of traditional dating shows with survival challenges…. because, of course!

The singles meet at a speed dating event and get matched. The couples then get married, and THEN these newlyweds are stranded on a deserted island for 21 days with only their wedding attire.

The extra twist? There are no devices, no modern distractions and nowhere to hide. Spooky!

The series is basically a blend between Married At First Sight and Survivor, so it ain't surprising it's produced by Endemol Shine Australia, the same production company behind all the best and biggest reality TV shows.

In case you were wondering, Stranded on Honeymoon Island is not an Australian concept. The format was created by Danish production company Snowman Productions — the same team behind the global hit Married at First Sight.

The show first premiered in Belgium, where it became a ratings success, and has since been adapted in several countries, including Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the UK, and now Australia.

Channel Seven acquired the rights to the format from Red Arrow Studios International, and the Australian version is produced locally by Endemol Shine Australia. Lucky us!

The show positions itself as more than just entertainment — it's framed as a social experiment. Because of course it is.

The series will explore whether removing modern dating distractions can foster deeper connections as couples are forced to face isolation together. The pairs must navigate the early days of their relationship while surviving in the wilderness. Relatable!

The beach "dinner parties" shown in promo shots suggest regular opportunities for couples to interact, similar to those seen on Married At First Sight aka drama, drama, drama awaits.

According to Channel Seven, Jackie's narration is expected to "bring an added layer of warmth and humour, making the series even more irresistible."

The show sounds like a lot of things, and none of them are boring — and it kicks off tonight.

Stranded on Honeymoon Island will premiere on Channel Seven and 7plus on June 23.
