Comedian Stephen Fry has announced he will step down from popular quiz show QI after 13 years.
Fry began hosting the show in 2003 when he agreed to be a replacement for Michael Palin “just for the pilot”.
But his wit, charm and intelligence made it instantly clear he was born for the role he described as “one of the best jobs on television”, and he went on to host over 180 episodes of the award-winning show.
Take a look back at some of the best moments on the show under Fry, and let us know what your favourite moments are.
1. “Are you ready for me to pump the custard?”
Stephen Fry investigates what makes custard powder explode.
2. “This is an ordinary laser light, the kind used in conferences to point at maps and all the rest of it, and I’m just going to press the laser here, and- oh!”
In another of his science experiments, Fry pops balloons with a laser pointer.
“They thought it was a normal tortoise but closer?”
4. Fry is served a tray of drinks by the robot ASIMO
“So you’re the most advanced humanoid robot on the face of the planet, is that right? Why don’t you show us what you can do?”
