The Stan Original Film FING! is the magical book adaption everyone's going to be talking about.

The streaming gods have blessed us once again, and this time it's with a Stan Original Film that's set to delight both the little ones and big kids (literally me) alike. If you or your child love anything weird, wonderful and slightly dark, then FING! should absolutely be on your radar.

Based on the beloved children's book by comedy legend David Walliams (you know, the guy from Little Britain who has somehow become one of the world's most successful children's authors), FING! tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Meek and their utterly spoilt daughter, Myrtle.

Myrtle Meek has everything a child could possibly want, but that doesn't stop her demanding more. When she asks for a FING, her mild-mannered librarian parents have no idea what that is, but they're determined to find one. Cue a wild adventure involving a mysterious creature that's about to turn their world upside down.

A producer on the film, Jo Sargent spoke about the excitement around the upcoming movie and explained how well the original book's story lends to the big screen.

"David and I have always known FING! had potential to be an incredibly cinematic story. Director Jeffrey Walker and co-producer Todd Fellman have shared our vision from day one and it's been wonderful to work alongside their world-class crew in Queensland as we create the creature and story we know and love," Sargent said of the film.

Stan has assembled an A-list cast and honestly, we're a bit starstruck. Academy Award-winner Taika Waititi (you know, the genius behind Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit) will be joining Australian darling Mia Wasikowska in this absolutely bonkers family film.

But wait, there's more. The author himself, David Walliams, is also starring in the adaptation of his own book (talk about multi-talent), alongside Aussie legend Richard Roxburgh and British stars Penelope Wilton and Blake Harrison. Rounding out this impossibly good cast is our national treasure Robyn Nevin, plus newcomer Iona Bell, who we're predicting is about to become a household name.

"FING! is such a fun and visual story with so many flights of fancy and I can't wait to see it come to life on screen," Walliams said about the project.

"To have Taika join the cast is absolutely thrilling as well. He's a fantastic comedy performer, writer and director and I know he'll have enormous fun playing the villainous role of the Viscount."

For Waititi, the role of the villainous Viscount was immediately appealing because of its dark humour and quirky edge.

"I was really thinking of my (now teenage) daughters when the role came to me. I can't wait to unleash this absolutely mental Viscount character on audiences. It's dark, it's weird, it's me" Waititi added.

While the exact release date hasn't been announced yet, FING! is currently in production in Australia and will be hitting actual cinemas across Australia and New Zealand via Transmission before making its way to our lounge rooms as a Stan Original film.

David Walliams' books have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide, and FING! promises to bring that same magic to our screens. So mark your calendars (roughly, since we don't have an exact date yet) and prepare for what will quickly become your child's new obsession — and likely yours too.

We're definitely ready to discover what exactly a FING! is.
