'I used to love Urban Decay's setting spray, until I found a $33 dupe.'

In your quest to find a makeup product that stops your face from melting off by midday, you've probably come across setting sprays. Actually, one product in particular: Urban Decay's iconic All Nighter Setting Spray.

This product is basically a makeup legend. Makeup artists, beauty influencers and celebrities all swear by it. I've been using it for years, ever since my high school days when I first got into makeup over 15 years ago.

Now, prices start at $35 for 30ml or $66 for 118ml, which isn't super cheap by any means. But for a product that holds a 4.7-star average rating from over 4.3k reviews on MECCA Australia alone, honestly, just take my money already.

However, my long-running love affair with Urban Decay's famous spray came to an end on a trip to Seoul last year. While browsing at Olive Young (aka the Korean Sephora/MECCA/Adore Beauty combined into one), I noticed every beauty girl loading her basket with the same pastel pink can. It was the So Natural All Day Tight Makeup Setting Fixx Spray.

I had no idea what it was, but if there's one thing I've learnt about K-beauty, if the locals are buying it in bulk, it's worth a try. And at $26.38 (usually $37.68) for 75ml, it was a product I was willing to splurge on.

Over a year later, I haven't repurchased my once-trusty Urban Decay bottle since. Here's everything you need to know about my new favourite K-beauty setting spray.

What is the So Natural All Day Tight Makeup Setting Fixx spray?

A Korean cult-favourite setting spray that keeps your makeup looking fresh, smooth and shine-free all day (even in the stickiest and hottest weather).

Here's what it looks like…

Fast facts:

  • It's a fine mist setting spray that locks makeup in place for 24 hours without that tight or sticky feeling.

  • The ultra-fine spray evenly coats your face with no splatters, no droplets and no patchy spots.

  • It delivers oil control and humidity resistance, making it perfect for long workdays, nights out or extremely hot climates.

  • The lightweight formula feels breathable and comfortable on the skin.

  • It has a subtle, clean scent (no harsh alcohol or perfume smell).

  • Find it at Olive Young Global (along with other online retailers) for $26.38 (usually $37.68).

  • At roughly $0.35 per ml compared to Urban Decay's $0.56 per ml, the So Natural Fixx Spray gives you nearly the same long-lasting finish for almost 40 per cent less per millilitre.

How to use the So Natural All Day Tight Makeup Setting Fixx spray.

After applying your makeup, hold the can around 20–30cm from your face and spritz in an "X" and "T" motion. Let it dry for a few seconds before touching your face or applying any powder.

On days when I really need my makeup to stay put, I like misting it between layers (before foundation, after concealer or CC cream, and again as the final step) for extra staying power.

My So Natural All Day Tight Makeup Setting Fixx spray review.

From the very first spritz, I knew it was different.

The mist is INSANELY fine. It feels like a soft, weightless veil rather than Urban Decay's spray. It settles perfectly in seconds without leaving droplets or a sticky film. And, there's no overpowering scent, which gets a massive tick of approval from me.

Now onto the wear. It's… mind-blowing! It holds my makeup for over 12 hours, and I'm not just talking about sitting in an office all day. I'm talking about powering through rigorous workouts, sweaty nights on the dance floor, 38-degree Hong Kong humidity (where I spend part of the year), and scorching Aussie summer days. My foundation doesn't budge (even around my smile lines), and everything somehow stays perfectly in place.

If I really had to give you a downside, it would be that it's still a tad difficult to purchase in Australia. At the moment, the only online retailers that stock the product are Olive Young, Beauty Amora and YesStyle. And just a word of warning: it sells out like hotcakes!

Apart from that minor hiccup, compared to Urban Decay's All Nighter, the So Natural Fixx Spray feels lighter, cleaner and far more comfortable. It gives the same long-lasting hold, but with a softer, more natural finish that still lets your skin breathe.

Honestly, for almost half the price, it does everything the All Nighter does — and then some.
