Rescuers were forced to wear hazmat suits when they rescued a 75-year-old woman who had been ‘moulded’ to a chair for seven months, Fox6 News reports.

Barbara Foster, who weighs over 220 kilograms, had been sitting in the same chair since July 2016.

Assistant Fire Chief Rick Helminski said rescue workers were required to wear protective suits because of the unsanitary conditions inside the 75-year-old’s home.

Reports also suggest that Barbara was so physically weak that the bones in her body began to break when emergency services attempted to carry her out of her home.

A volunteer who had food delivered to Barbara’s home for the past 10 years told investigators he called the police when he believed she was not “acting herself”.

Neighbours told police they had not seen her outside “in years”.

4. Humble ‘workmen’s café’ overwhelmed with customers after accidentally being awarded a Michelin star.

A café in central France – frequented by workmen wearing high-visibility vests every lunch hour – has been bombarded with reservation requests after it was accidentally awarded a Michelin star.

The diner is decorated with red and white polka dot plastic tablecloths and serves up specials of homemade lasagna and beef bourguignon.

“Suddenly, we were rushed off our feet. Reporters were coming in and then my son phoned me from Paris, where he lives. He almost died laughing. I had regulars and friends phoning up and asking why I hadn’t told them we’d won a Michelin star,” café owner Véronique Jacquet said.

It turns out the Michelin Guide had confused the humble café with a more upscale restaurant of the same name near Paris. The listing on the Michelin website was changed two days later.

Along with the added publicity, the staff of the café were invited to dine at the genuine Michelin-starred restaurant.

“We had a good laugh about it and I invited her to come to the restaurant to sample what we do,” the chef of the real Michelin restaurant, Aymeric Dreux, said of phoning the café’s owner.

“If I’m in her neck of the woods, I’ll pop in for lunch and a beer at her place.”
