And he’s furious about it.
If you’re a parent, you would know that snack shaming is a thing now. Most of the time it starts in the shopping line as your groceries travel along the conveyor belt before getting bagged up.
Have you ever felt silently guilty for grabbing than box of Coco Pops for the kids instead of a healthier alternative? Wondering if the parent behind you is secretly judging you for your poor breakfast choice?
We’ve all been there.
And for this dad it ended with his daughter’s packed lunch, when a casual teacher from her school send home a letter telling him it was unhealthy.
Justin Puckett, who also happens to be a family doctor shared the letter on his Facebook page, after being outraged by the “Big Brother” approach of his daughter’s primary school.
Dr. Puckett refused to sign the letter, which he felt implied that he and his wife Kylene were not up to caring for their daughter, Alia.
The note read, ''Dr. and Mrs. Puckett, The cafeteria reported to me that Alia's lunch today included four chocolate bars, a bag of marshmallows, Ritz crackers and a pickle. Please see that she packs a proper lunch tomorrow.”
The letter then requested a parent’s signature, to which the Pucketts responded, “Request declined”.
Dr. Puckett told ABC 3, “Unfortunately, the letter didn't have what she had, correctly. She had four pieces of ham, a whole protein meat, she also had some pickles, which we admittedly cheat on pickles every once and awhile as a vegetable, because some fights just aren't worth having."
“She also had four marshmallows in a Ziploc bag and then she had three very small pieces of chocolate, of which she ate one for lunch and then she also gave her brother and another friend one at an after school program,” he continued.
