We’ve rounded up the biggest stories from Australia and around the world – and a few that aren’t so big.
1. A teenage girl has been shot outside a Sydney Hungry Jacks.
A 17-year-old girl has been shot dead outside a Hungry Jacks at Hoxton Park, in Sydney’s West.
News.com.au is reporting that paramedics attempted to revive the girl, but the girl died at the scene.
The police have blocked off the roads and are expected to make a statement shortly.
2. Six Ministers voted against PM.
After a humbling near miss yesterday the Prime Minister has promised his partyroom that he will fix things.
But it seems that the PM might be in for a short ride with reports that at least six ministers voted against him. 39 out of 101 Liberal MPs and senators voted for the spill yesterday – a number that has many calling the Prime Minster a “dead man walking”.
In an interview with 7.30 last night he repeated a statement he made to the party room earlier yesterday “I am hopeless at fighting the Liberal Party, I am brilliant at fighting the Labor Party.”
Former Howard government minister Peter Reith told Sky News that there was a continued threat to the Prime Minister of losing his position as a “serious number” of the ministry would peel away from him now because the vote against him was so high. Those supporting Malcolm Turnbull say they will wait until after the May budget before pushing for him to replace the Prime Minister.
