Welp. We're officially halfway through the year.

Whether that milestone feels like a rude shock or a quiet sigh of relief, hitting the mid-year mark can be a nudge to pause and check in with yourself.

Maybe you're reflecting on those ambitious New Year's resolutions (if you even remember what they were), wondering how your "word of the year" has played out so far or realising that your best intentions for 2025 being "your year" have slipped quietly into the too-hard basket.

If you're feeling a little stuck in the mid-year slump or just want to bring some fresh energy into your routine, a self-care reset might be exactly what you need.

Once viewed as luxurious, time-consuming and sometimes overly indulgent, self-care has evolved quite a bit over the years.

Instead of needing to book expensive spa days or weekends in the woods to feel like you're taking care of yourself, it's now more about managing stress, bolstering your physical and mental health and finding small moments of calm in everyday ways.

So, if you're ready to take stock and feel a little more on top of things, here are some small ways to elevate your self-care routine.

Sort out your supplements.

Liposomal supplements are a convenient way to support your general health and wellbeing.

And if you're looking to upgrade your supplement routine, Lipo-Sachets — the number one selling liposomal supplement range in Australia — might be worth a look.

First up, Ferro Lipo-Sachets help prevent dietary iron deficiency, reduce gastric upsets, enhance energy, relieve tiredness and fatigue and are suitable for those with common stomach upsets from other iron supplements.

Then there's the Vitamin C Lipo-Sachets, which support immune health, help relieve the severity of symptoms of common colds and flu and support collagen formation.

If you're low on sun exposure, especially in the cooler months, Vitamin D Lipo-Sachets aid healthy bone development, support muscle and nervous system function and aid calcium absorption.

And there's a newly launched Vitamin C for kids in a blackcurrant flavour as a convenient family option.

Book in that overdue health appointment.

Okay, next up is something that's REALLY important: book in those medical appointments you've been putting off.

Whether you're overdue for a cervical screening test, skin check or dental visit, consider this your sign to finally put them in the calendar.

If you have an aversion to one of them, I recommend recruiting a friend to go with you and doing something fun together afterward. Even if it's just grabbing a coffee or going for a walk, having something to look forward to will help take the dread out of going.

Bonus points if you add a reminder to your phone for when your next check-up is due.

Go to bed earlier.

Turns out my parents were right — I do need a bedtime.

I don't know about you, but I've definitely gone through phases where I'm exhausted all day, then wide awake the second my head hits the pillow.

What helped me break the cycle? Going to bed earlier and sticking to a nighttime routine. I'm not perfect with it — but having a loose routine to fall back on makes it way easier to reset when I veer off track.

I try to follow the "make it easy, make it obvious" approach from James Clear's Atomic Habits. Because honestly, if there are too many steps, I know I'll ditch it and end up deep in a TikTok scroll at 2am.

So, I keep things simple: a warm shower after dinner, a quick but enjoyable skincare routine and then I charge my phone in the bedroom and hang out in the living room with my partner. That might mean listening to records, reading or just chatting about our day — either way, it's a nice way to wind down without screens.

And yes, staying off my phone before bed really does help quiet my brain. Sorry, but it works.

Audit your spending.

Okay, this one's a bit different from the face masks and foot rubs we usually associate with self-care — but looking after your finances can seriously reduce stress. Especially if it feels like your money is controlling you, not the other way around.

If that sounds familiar, try setting aside an hour or two to check in on your cash flow. Look at how you're spending and where you can make adjustments that better align with your goals and values.
