4 things that definitely didn't happen (and 5 that did) at Selena Gomez's wedding.

After months of speculation and waiting, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have officially said "I do" — and honestly, we couldn't be happier for them.

The couple tied the knot on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in what can only be described as one of the most beautifully secretive celebrity weddings we've seen in ages.

But here's the thing about Selena — while she's blissfully posting her gorgeous wedding snaps and probably still floating on cloud nine, her name has become something of a lightning rod for drama in the media and across the internet. The woman literally can't breathe without someone spinning it into controversy, and her wedding day has been no exception.

The privacy lockdown.

When we say this wedding was kept under wraps, we mean it was practically Fort Knox levels of security. The entire venue was completely tented — think massive white marquees that blocked any aerial view of the festivities below.

But here's where it gets really next-level: guests reportedly had no idea where they were actually going.

"Guests still do not know exact locations for the rehearsal or the wedding," an insider told the Daily Mail, revealing that shuttle buses picked guests up at the hotel and took them to the venues.

Meanwhile, helicopters circled overhead like paparazzi vultures, desperately trying to catch even a glimpse of the celebration through those strategic tent coverings. And if that wasn't enough to ensure total privacy, sources are claiming that phones were allegedly confiscated and locked up upon arrival.

It's giving Princess Protection Program vibes, but make it luxury wedding planning.

The Justin and Hailey Bieber of it all.

Oh, you didn't think we'd get through Selena's wedding coverage without someone, somewhere, somehow making it about her ex-boyfriend from over a decade ago, did you?

First up: Justin Bieber had the absolute audacity to post Instagram photos of himself playing basketball — set to his own song "I Do," which happens to be about marriage — on the very same day Selena was getting married. The timing! The song choice! The sheer coincidence of it all!

Then there's the nail situation. Selena's gorgeous "toasted nails" for her big day were apparently suspiciously similar to Hailey's famous glazed donut nails. Because obviously, when choosing your wedding manicure, the first thing you think about is what your ex-boyfriend's wife made trendy, right?

Wedding nails are wedding nails, people — sometimes a nude, glossy manicure is just a nude, glossy manicure.

And the pièce de résistance? The wedding planner. Selena and Benny hired Mindy Weiss and Revelry Event Designers — the exact same team behind Justin and Hailey's South Carolina wedding almost exactly six years ago.

The internet's ability to turn a woman's wedding day into a conspiracy theory about her decade-old relationship truly knows no bounds.

Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran gave speeches.

In what might be the most heartwarming — and believable — detail to emerge from the reception, both Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran reportedly gave speeches during the evening celebrations.

Sources told People that the pair took to the microphone to toast the happy couple — which makes perfect sense given that Taylor and Selena's friendship spans over a decade, and Ed has collaborated with Benny on multiple albums over the years.

There's something rather lovely about having your closest friends stand up and share their love for both you and your new spouse, especially when those friends happen to be global superstars who know a thing or two about putting together meaningful words.

Rumours of drama with Selena's mother.

Rumours started swirling that there was tension between the bride and her mother, Mandy Teefey over not walking her daughter down the aisle.

The speculation got so ridiculously out of hand that Mandy actually had to take to her Instagram Stories to set the record straight — which, let's be honest, is absolutely bonkers that a mother has to publicly defend her relationship with her daughter on her wedding day.

"What a perfect celebration for the most kick ass couple I know! The evening couldn't have been more beautiful and perfect! Absolutely flawless! All my love to my beautiful daughter @selenagomez and to the greatest son in law @itsbennyblanco!!! It was a fairytale come true and it was beyond heartwarming watching my father walk her down the aisle!!!" she wrote.

She even felt compelled to comment directly on Page Six's report about the alleged drama.

"This is ludicrous! It was heartwarming him walk her down the aisle!" she commented.

The star-studded guest list.

With 170 guests reportedly in attendance, this wasn't just a wedding — it was basically an event of Hollywood's finest. The A-list attendees managed to slip into the venue completely undetected, with umbrellas strategically shielding them as they were whisked from their vehicles to the ceremony.

According to reports, the guest list included Taylor Swift (obviously), Selena's Only Murders in the Building co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin, Paris Hilton, Ed Sheeran, Paul Rudd, Ashley Park, and even a nostalgic nod to Selena's Disney days with Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie making the cut.

The Charlie Puth drama.

In more ridiculous rumour news, we have Charlie Puth innocently performing his 2016 hit 'We Don't Talk Anymore' at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City — on the exact same day as Selena's wedding.

Cue the collective gasp from conspiracy theorists everywhere. For context, Charlie and Selena briefly dated in 2016, and the song has long been rumoured to be about their short-lived romance.

Look, the man is married, she's now married, and sometimes musicians just perform their popular songs at jazz clubs without it being a cryptic message to anyone.

Let's move on, people.

Adele singing 'Pink Pony Club'.

A video of Adele dancing and singing along to a performance of 'Pink Pony Club' has been circulating around the internet, with many claiming that this moment was videoed during Selena's and Benny's wedding.

Who knows if it's actually true, but the internet has collectively decided this is definitely what happened at the reception, and honestly, we're choosing to believe it because the mental image of Adele belting out Chappell Roan at a celebrity wedding is simply too good to fact-check.

The flower symbolism.

Leave it to the internet to turn wedding florals into a deeply emotional metaphor. Eagle-eyed fans have been dying over the discovery that Selena's bridal bouquet featured the lily of the valley — a flower that symbolises the return of happiness.

The symbolism has sent social media into a collective meltdown, with people reading this as the most beautiful representation of Selena finding joy again after everything she's been through. Whether this was an intentional choice by the bride or simply because the lily of the valley happens to be gorgeous and classic for weddings.

Selena's wedding hair.

After months of watching Selena experiment with her signature bob, her wedding day hair was pure romantic perfection. She leaned fully into Old Hollywood glamour with soft, bouncy curls that gave her bob the most dreamy, voluminous finish.

According to her long-time hair stylist, Renato Compora, Selena's hair was a "flawless, timeless, healthy-looking Hollywood Glamour Marcel Wave Bob for a day that celebrates love, beauty, and perfection."

Honestly, it was the perfect romantic touch for such a magical day.
