Women told us the biggest secrets they keep from their partners.

I've always thought once you're in a relationship, you sit across from your partner and say the words "Okay, go!" Then, you both spill every single thing about your life, your history, and your secrets.

Unfortunately, my colleagues — who've all been in long-term relationships — informed me this... doesn't actually happen (rude).

Watch: Season, reason and lifetime friends. Post continues below.

Apparently it's quite common to keep secrets in romantic relationships. What types of secrets, you ask? Well, don't worry, because I've got the answers.

Here are the secrets 20 women keep from their partners. And some of them are JUICY.

Let's get into them…

The secrets women keep from their partners.

"My partner and I have been together for eight years now and for two of those years I was a pretty heavy smoker. I completely kept it from him and he had no clue. I felt terrible all the time. We were living together and I was smoking in our backyard. The only reason why I kept it from him was because I knew he hated smoking and I didn't want him to lecture me so I just kept it under wraps."

"Detailed information about previous partners and relationships. I would tell them if I was directly asked or it came up, it's just not needed or appropriate in my opinion."

"Bank accounts. All women need one their partners don't know about."

"My mum used to use a red marker on all her expensive clothes' price tags so my dad thought she got them discounted. Us daughters never told dad, it was mum's secret."

"How much the hairdresser costs."

"Very early on in our relationship, one of my partner's best friends told me I was too good for my partner and that I should leave him. He thought I was 'punching' and that my partner wasn't good enough for me. That person isn't in our life anymore, they stopped being friends, but I never told my partner because I thought it would upset him and I didn't agree. And here we are… 12 years, two kids later, beautiful life. They were clearly wrong and I still think that I wouldn't tell my partner now because there's no point."

"My partner knows nothing about what I spend and I completely control the budget."

"I don't know or care how much he spends on fancy wine and he doesn't know or care how much I spend on hair/beauty/anti-wrinkle injections..."

"I think it's absolutely fine if someone fakes an orgasm in a marriage. We're all busy, we're all tired and you don't want anyone to feel bad like they're underperforming. It's kind of an act of kindness if you pretend."

"I throw away the hideous clothes he wears for years that need the bin."

"If they ask, 'Have you seen [insert random object that took up space for months and I threw away while rage cleaning]?' I reply, 'No, where did you last see it?'"

"The existence of chin whiskers."

"My girlfriend and I just had a very long conversation about what kind of criticism is okay and what you need to keep to yourself. It's a hard balance to get right and we both err on the 'say nothing' side of things which then leads to things blowing up every six months."

"The only 'secrets' I keep from my partner is how much I spend on our grand-babies. He never asks anyway and if he did, I'd tell him an 'average' price."

"The use-by date of the food in the dinner I've cooked. I don't want food waste if I can help it and if it smells fine/has the texture it should, then it is fine! Besides, I did the cooking so I get to use my discretion on the usability of the food."

"Anything that is slightly woo woo that I purchase, do or follow, I keep to myself as he doesn't respect my choices in doing these things."

"I love making my husband guess how much my makeup and beauty products cost and of course I say 'sure darling' when he guesses… which is always completely wrong."
