Kid Cudi was asked in court about Diddy allegedly blowing up his car. His blunt response says it all.

Kid Cudi, born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, has emerged as a potentially significant figure in the ongoing legal troubles surrounding Sean "Diddy" Combs.

The Grammy-winning artist has provided testimony that could substantiate allegations of threatening and abusive behaviour.

His involvement stems from his connection to Cassie Ventura, Combs' former girlfriend, as well as his own alleged experiences with Combs' intimidation tactics.

Now, Mescudi has taken the stand in Combs' sex trafficking trial, shedding more light on the allegations.

As the case continues to develop, Mescudi's testimony may offer crucial insights into patterns of behaviour that could strengthen the prosecution's case against the music mogul.

According to Ventura's testimony, she began seeing Mescudi in 2011 during a "rough patch" in her long, on-and-off, relationship with Combs. At the time, gossip publications picked up on the budding romance.

By April 2012, reports emerged claiming that "Cassie and Cudi hooked up just two months ago," with sources indicating that Cudi was allegedly "living in fear" that Combs would seek revenge for what he perceived as betrayal.

The relationship between Ventura and Mescudi was brief but significant enough to allegedly provoke intense jealousy from Combs, despite his own relationship with Ventura being tumultuous at the time. This romantic connection between Mescudi and Ventura has become a central element in understanding the timeline of events presented in the trial.

What did Diddy do to Kid Cudi?

The allegations regarding Combs' actions towards Mescudi involve claims of threatening behaviour and possible retaliation. Ventura has testified that Combs threatened violence against Mescudi after discovering their relationship, specifically alleging that Combs may be linked to the intentional burning of Mescudi's car in 2012.

This allegation gained significant weight when federal prosecutors alleged that Combs set fire to a car owned by an unnamed individual between December 2011 and January 2012, according to Forbes.

While prosecutors haven't explicitly named Mescudi as the victim, The New York Times reported that their description of the car bombing closely matches Ventura's allegations in her November 2023 civil lawsuit against Combs, which was settled for $20 million (USD).

During her testimony last week, Ventura elaborated on Combs' threats, stating that "Sean wanted Scott's friends to see Scott's car get blown up." Despite these serious allegations, Combs has maintained his innocence, with his defence attorney Marc Agnifilo stating, "It's clear the government doesn't know who set fire to the vehicle or how it relates to Mr. Combs, who denies any involvement."

The alleged car arson represents one of the most concrete examples of the threatening behaviour that prosecutors are working to establish as part of their broader case against the music mogul.

What has Kid Cudi said about Diddy?

While Mescudi has maintained a conspicuous public silence regarding Combs and the allegations surrounding him, in 2023, his team did make one significant statement that seemingly supported Ventura's accusations.

When Ventura filed her civil lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, one of the most explosive allegations involved Combs threatening to blow up Mescudi car after learning about his relationship with Ventura. When contacted by The New York Times at that time, a spokesperson for Mescudi responded with a brief but unequivocal statement: "This is all true."

Now, more details are coming to light in court.

On Thursday, Mescudi testified that back in December 2011, Ventura called him early one morning.

She sounded scared. Nervous. She told him she'd given Combs his address and Combs was seething.

So Mescudi picked her up and drove her to a West Hollywood hotel, hoping to keep her away from Combs.

But things escalated.

Mescudi testified that not long after, he got a phone call from Combs' assistant, Capricorn Clark. According to him, she said Combs and another man had turned up at his house and she'd been forced to go with them.

While driving home, Mescudi said he called Combs and asked if he was in his house. Allegedly, Combs replied: "I just want to talk to you" and told Mescudi he was waiting for him.

"I wanted to confront him. I wanted to fight him," Mescudi admitted in court, per CNN.

But instead, he called the police.

"I don't know who he has with him. I don't know what his intentions are," he recalled thinking.

When Mescudi returned, he said Combs and his people were gone. But someone had been there.

Christmas presents he'd bought for his family had been unwrapped, and his dog had been locked in the bathroom.

Mescudi wasn't sure what was going on, so he called the police.

That Christmas, Mescudi stayed with Ventura and her family in Connecticut. During that time, he said Combs messaged him, asking to talk.

But Mescudi wasn't interested.

"You broke into my house, you messed with my dog, I don't want to talk to you," he recalled texting.

Then, in January 2012, things took a terrifying turn.

Mescudi said his dog-sitter called one morning with shocking news: his car was on fire.

He wasn't home, but a friend sent him photos of the damage. It was so badly burned the Porsche couldn't be salvaged, he said.

Mescudi said law enforcement found a Molotov cocktail in the driver's seat.

"It looks like the top of my Porsche was cut open, and that's where the Molotov cocktail was put in," he said.

When asked his reaction to the incident, he had three words: "What the f**k."

Mescudi said he asked to meet with Combs after the fire, which he believes Combs lit.

When they met, Combs was "standing there, staring out the window with his hands behind his back, like a Marvel supervillain", Mescudi said, adding that Combs' calm demeanour was "off-putting."

"We discussed pretty much the whole story about how me and Cassie first started to date to what it was to how it ended."

When he asked about the car, Combs allegedly replied, "I don't know what you're talking about."

Mescudi pressed him: was it really his word that he had nothing to do with it? Combs said yes.

Years later, in 2015, the pair bumped into each other again at Soho House while Combs was with his daughter.

It was unexpected.

Mescudi told the court he "found peace" with the situation after that.

"That was the last thing I was expecting to get from him."

Why is Kid Cudi testifying in the trial?

Mescudi's significance to the trial stems from his role in what prosecutors are characterising as a demonstration of Combs' pattern of threatening and controlling behaviour. The alleged car arson incident provides concrete evidence that could support claims that Combs was willing to use violence and intimidation against those he perceived as threats.

Ventura's testimony about Combs' reaction to her relationship with Mescudi helps establish a timeline of escalating control and abuse that forms a central part of the prosecution's case.

As the case continues to unfold, more details about the full extent of Combs' alleged behaviour, additional witness testimonies, and potentially new evidence may emerge as prosecutors build their case against the music mogul in what has become one of the most high-profile criminal trials in recent entertainment industry history.
