You know that moment where everyone is laughing and you don’t quite know why, but you definitely laugh along anyway because clearly something very funny has happened…?
Yeah, that one.
Well, it seems that’s been occurring en masse over the last few days, ever since Scarlett Johansson’s glorious portrayal of Ivanka Trump on Saturday Night Live.
The actress appeared in a mock perfume commercial featuring the First Daughter’s new (faux) scent: “Complicit – the fragrance for the woman who could stop all this, but won’t.”
As some viewers giggled along and shared it with friends, others were frantically typing the word ‘complicit’ into online dictionary, Merriam-Webster.
So much so, in fact, that it quickly became the most-searched word on the site, and is still hovering around number three.
(Just in case you were wondering, Merriam Webster's definition is: helping to commit a crime or do wrong in some way.)
The sketch takes aim at the fact that, despite being a supposedly trusted (though unofficial) adviser to her father - a voice of reason - the 35-year-old has remained silent on several of his controversial policy decisions.
"She's beautiful, she's powerful. She's complicit," the breathy voiceover says.
"She's a woman who knows what she wants and knows what she's doing.
"A feminist, an advocate, a champion for women. But...like, how?
"Complicit."
