For me, the most surprising thing to come out of New York Fashion Week wasn’t Kendall Jenner’s nipples (nipples? On a runway? SHOCKING), but the hair trend synonymous with Donald Trump and balding men everywhere.
The comb-over.
Hair stylists are challenged every season to make hair look new and fresh and to dictate a style we’ll want to copy. But are they officially out of ideas? Do they really need to head into the realm of ‘Advanced Hair Yeah Yeah’ for inspiration?
And which designer okay’ed this helmet hair comb-over?
Alexander Wang’s your man.
The hair at his NYFW show was actually inspired by one of his own drawings. It was a nod to the comb-overs that men sported in the ’60s, with a modern twist – coloured makeup parting.
Presumably, you’re not going to run home, dig out the Fudge wax and try this look at home. But what if you did want to create a dramatic side-swept look without committing a Trump-esque hair crime? Aussie celebrity hairstylist Rena Xydis has some tips.
Xydis was on hand to create the look (albeit a more life-appropriate style) for Sass & Bide’s recent “Novateur” NYFW show.
