It's official: Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis are engaged.
While the soccer stars started as rivals on the field, they embarked on a romance that went beyond the pitch. And now after two years together, the couple has shared the news of their engagement.
Taking to Instagram, Kerr shared the sweet moment she got down on one knee.
Mewis also recently confirmed the news of their engagement to PEOPLE.
In a conversation is the publication, the sports star said that Kerr has "just been everything" to her, sharing that she is "my biggest supporter, always listening to me nag and complain all, all of my crazy antics."
Mewis made the comments while discussing how supportive Kerr has been of her during her time with the National Women's Soccer League in the United States.
Fans guessed that an engagement announcement might be on the cards after a video of Mewis wearing a large ring on her wedding finger emerged, hinting that Sam had popped the question.

The tiny detail was spotted in a promotional clip for the EA FC 24 video game featuring Mewis, who was clearly wearing a large rock on her ring finger.

The football stars first sparked dating rumours on August 5, 2021, during the Tokyo Olympics when Australia's Matildas (With Kerr on side) lost 4-3 to the United States women's soccer team – aka Mewis' team.
The pair were photographed sitting together on the field, chatting, smiling and embracing after the game.

Those photos quickly went viral.
Less than a week later, Kerr confirmed she had found love with Mewis in a post on Instagram. Now, two years on, the duo are still be going strong, despite their physical distance and demanding schedules.
Kerr rarely opens up about her relationship with the rival football star but in an interview with Gaffer in 2023, she confessed what it really felt like to have such an intense chemistry with Mewis.
"It was about three or four months until we could hang out in person," Kerr recalled of her first meeting with Mewis.
"The first time we ever met there was quarantine so we had to spend two weeks together the first time we met... I was thinking if I don't like her this is going to be awkward."
