An apprehended violence order (AVO) has reportedly been taken out against NRL star Sam Burgess by his father-in-law, Mitchell Hooke.
The incident, which follows media reports that the South Sydney captain has split with his wife Phoebe Burgess (nee Hooke), reportedly took place at a property in the NSW Southern Highlands and is being investigated by police.
It is believed Phoebe’s family has a property in Bowral and Sam was there visiting his two children – Poppy, two-years-old, and Billy, 10-months-old – who he shares with Phoebe.
An AVO application involving Burgess is due to come before Moss Vale Local Court on November 6. The matter is listed as being made by NSW Police on behalf of Burgess’ father-in-law Mitchell Hooke.
“Police are investigating an incident at a property near Bowral shortly before 5pm yesterday,” a police spokeswoman said on Sunday afternoon.
