Sally Obermeder has a summer holiday idea for parents going nuts right now.

Instead of trying to kick bad habits in 2017, Sally Obermeder’s New Year’s resolution was to create some better ones.

The television personality — who just welcomed her second daughter with husband Marcus with via surrogate — decided her mission this year was to build some new traditions for her growing family, and she’s already well on her way.

The 43-year-old shared one of her ideas on social media this week, and it's a godsend for any parent running low on ideas for keeping the kids busy this summer.

"I absolutely fell in love with one of the rituals that our surrogate family had - the creation of the summer fun list," Obermeder wrote alongside an image posted to her Instagram account on Wednesday.

"The girls (aged 5, 7 and 9) would all decide on what they wanted to do doing their summer break. As I stood there in their kitchen, with the three of them, all talking over each other excitedly explaining to me why they chose certain things, like swimming in the lake and camping, I decided that I wanted to bring some of their family tradition into our family."

SUMMER FUN LIST …. ????☀️one of my resolutions for this year was the creation of more family traditions. New traditions. So it got me thinking that i absolutely fell in love with one of the rituals that our surrogate family had - the creation of the summer fun list. The girls (aged 5, 7 and 9) would all decide on what they wanted to do doing their summer break. As i stood there in their kitchen, with the three of them, all talking over each other excitedly explaining to me why they chose certain things, like swimming in the lake and camping, i decided that i wanted to bring some of their family tradition into our family. Even though we talk about what we want to do over the holidays there was something about having it written up, old school style and hanging it in the kitchen and ticking them off one by one. So we did it - Annabelle chose all the usual things i expected her to choose - Inflatable World, the Zoo, Skyzone, the beach, having her nails done (????????) but a few that i never knew she wanted to do - making lemonade and having a lemonade stand, walking across the Harbour Bridge and having a BBQ in the park (“because that’s more fun than having a BBQ at home” she said) . So we’ve hung it up in the kitchen and we’ll see how go ….

The co-host of Channel 7’s The Daily Edition has a five-year-old daughter, Annabelle, with her husband Marcus.

The couple's second child, Elissa, was born in Chicago shortly before Christmas.

Obermeder said the family has talked about their holiday plans in previous years, but this is the first time they've ever written them all down in one place.

The list is already hanging on the family's fridge.
