Kate Hudson is back, baby!
The Glass Onion star has appeared in a handful of acting projects in recent years, focusing instead on her music and motherhood. But the undeniable queen of romantic comedies is taking her talents to a new Netflix series titled Running Point, from writer and creator Mindy Kaling.
Kaling has teamed up with her The Mindy Project co-star and friend Ike Barinholtz to create the comedy series, which boasts an excellent cast. With the newly-announced release date of February 27, we're counting down the days until we can catch this comedy on our screens. Here's everything you need to know.
What is Running Point about?
Running Point is an 'underdog story' with a twist, centred around Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) and her family business: basketball.
When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball teams. Ambitious and often overlooked, now that she's stepping up into the family business, Isla has to prove to her sceptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job.
The series will also show the broader dynamics of the high-profile positions in the Waves club, along with the key players in the team itself.
From the cast, writing team, and first-look images alone, I have to say this series seems like it will bring the binge-worthy energy and star-power of Nobody Wants This, with a little Ted Lasso dynamic thrown in for #sports.
