Rob Reiner shaped generations of movie lovers. Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Flipped, the list goes on.
So when news broke on Sunday that Reiner and his wife, film producer and actress Michele Reiner, were found dead in their LA home, shock rippled far beyond Hollywood.
Just days earlier, the couple were in the "best place" in their lives, according to former California first lady Maria Shriver, who had dinner with them just last week.
Now the film world is reeling — not just from the loss, but from the disturbing details about what's alleged to have happened.

News first broke on Sunday that homicide detectives were on the scene at Reiner's LA home.
The Los Angeles Fire Department then shared a 78-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman were found dead at the address, with police soon declaring it an apparent homicide.
While police were yet to formally identify the couple to the media, a spokesperson for the Reiner family soon confirmed the news of their deaths, describing the loss as "tragic" for the family.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time," the spokesperson said in a statement, per CNN.
