'This $22 chemist tubing mascara is better than the expensive ones I've tried.'

Mamamia's Tried and Tested series is your review of the latest to hit our desks in beauty, health and wellbeing. You won't find any #sponsored content here, just honest, relatable and independent advice. This week, Mamamia's Beauty Editor trials Revlon All In One Tubing Mascara.

There's truly nothing I love more on the mascara front than a new tubing formula. It's true! They're just a very good time. Whenever I use any mascara that isn't tubular, it generally tends to bugger off around midday and I tend to get flaking/smudging under my ends. But then I came across tubing mascaras and realised what a very good time they are.

If you're unfamiliar, unlike traditional mascaras that paint your lashes, tubing mascaras use clever polymer technology to wrap each lash in tiny, waterproof tubes. The result? Absolutely no panda eyes, even in the sweatiest/teariest of situations. It's the only mascara you can count on not to smudge.

So when Revlon recently dropped their new All In Tubing Mascara at the chemist for just $21.99, I knew I had to give it a proper test drive. And by proper test, I mean wearing it courtside at the Australian Open in 30-degree heat.

Here's how it went.

What is Revlon All In Tubing Mascara?

If you haven't heard of it, that's because it's very new! Just a teeny baby! But it's already causing quite the buzz because a) chemist mascaras always go hard, and b) because there aren't really heaps of great affordable tubing mascaras out there — and the people have an appetite.

For a quick run down, tubing mascaras are packed with polymers that create those little tubes around your lashes (or as Leigh Campbell likes to describe them, tiny socks for your lashes. CUTE).

This Revlon mascara comes in both classic black and brown (for those who prefer a softer look for everyday wear).

Here's what it looks like:

And here's how much I've loved it in the short time I've known it:

What piqued my interests when it comes to this tubing mascara (other than the price) (and the fact all my mascaras are most definitely expired), is that it's designed to be an all-rounder — promising to lengthen, define, and stay put without any of that annoying flaking or smudging that makes you look like you've been crying at your desk.

Again, at $21.99, it's significantly more affordable than many other tubing mascaras on the market — so I was keen to see how it shaped up in comparison to crowd favourites like MCoBeauty XTend Lash Tubing Mascara and spendier cult formulas like Tarte Tartlette Tubing Mascara.

How did you go with Revlon All in One Tubing Mascara?

I've been putting this mascara through its paces for the past two weeks, culminating in what I like to call the ultimate endurance test — a full day at the Australian Open in Melbourne's scorching summer heat.

First up, the application is a dream. The formula glides on smoothly, and I noticed immediate length and definition with the first coat. What really impressed me was how lightweight it felt on my eyes and they way that it separated my lashes without any clumping — you know when your lashes stick together and you have to try and brush them apart because it looks like you literally have three thick lashes on each eye? There was none of that business.

Also, the brush. We need to talk about the brush. Because I love how it's fluffy but thin and the perfect size for spreading the formula nice and evenly, allowing you to get every lash.

However, the real MVP moment came during my day at the tennis. While it was quite literally five thousand degrees and my ankles had swollen to the size of my thighs, my mascara didn't budge. No flaking, no smudging, just perfectly defined lashes that looked exactly the same at match point as they did at first serve. And yeah, I'm pretty sure I heard Alex de Minaur say something about how great they looked.

The verdict.

Look, I test a lot of mascaras. But for $21.99, this one is a good time — particularly on the lengthening front. This mascara makes my lashes look longer, separated and just generally more impressive.

So, if you're a lady with lashes who has tired of mascaras that give you raccoon eyes by lunchtime, or you're just looking for something that can handle the Australian climate (and let's be honest, that's no small feat), then Revlon's All In Tubing Mascara deserves a spot in your makeup bag.

It's officially earned its place in my everyday makeup routine, and considering how many mascaras come across my desk, that's a bit of a win, really.
