I'm calling it. This has got to be the wettest winter in living memory. And apparently it's going to continue to rain on our parade come Spring.

And I hate nothing more than heading out into a torrential downpour after having spent an hour doing my hair, wearing a flimsy t-shirt, and walking around in suede boots that feel more like wet socks.

Watch: Leigh shares her favourite waterproof jacket recommendation, post continues.

You want to be as prepared as possible when you walk out the door.

I'm talking umbrellas that actually stay put, shoes that protect your feet and waterproof jackets that keep you dry — as well as looking chic.

There are so many great waterproof and weather-appropriate items you can add to your wardrobe for rainy days.

Here are the most useful finds I've come across while researching wet weather gear.

Top 5 wet weather fashion finds to shop.

RAINS A-Line W Longer Rain Jacket, $220.

If you want to invest in a practical but also stylish raincoat for 2025 and beyond, this is my top pick.

Not only is the coat long enough to cover most of your body, but the on-trend chocolate brown also just looks cool.

Pair it with some jeans, boots and a white tee, and you've got a chic outfit that also protects you from the rain. Big win.

Merry People Tully Ankle Boot, $179.95.

These boots are perfect for muddy festival grounds, but sleek enough for city streets. Unlike traditional gumboots, Merrypeople boots come in gorgeous colours that can brighten up the dreariest rainy days.

The best part? They look like regular boots! No one needs to know you're wearing waterproof footwear - they just see a put-together shoe that happens to keep your socks completely dry.

BLUNT Metro Cocoa Umbrella, $139.

Have you come across this umbrella before? There's a good chance you've seen it, looked at the price and reconsidered. I was the same. But let me tell you why it's actually worth it:

After owning the usual cheapy umbrellas which always flip inside out, I recently gave in and got my hands on this investment option. The brand claims to make the strongest, most aerodynamic and protective umbrella on the market.

And they've convinced me. This umbrella shields me from both the rain and wind and has not once flipped inside out. (I now feel very smug as I walk past people who's umbrellas do.)

UNIQLO Blocktech Half Coat, $129.99.

Uniqlo is known for its great-quality affordable pieces, and this waterproof coat is no exception.

Not only does it fully protect you from the rain (because of its stealthy sealing tape along the seams). It has a two-way design that lets you stow the hood when you don't need it inside the collar, and comes in three colours. Just so versatile.

Hunter Original Tall Wellington Boots, $240.

For a 'for life' investment gumboot option, you can't go past Hunter wellies. The classic gumboots are loved by countless celebs and are solid investment pieces.

You'll bring them out every winter, and they'll never date. Plus, with riding boots as a trendy winter footwear style in 2025, they'll prove extra popular this year.
