A Queensland influencer allegedly poisoned her baby for fame. The father has just addressed it.

In January, news broke that a Queensland social media influencer, known for posting videos about her child's illness and surgeries online, had been charged with torture, accused of poisoning her baby with prescription medicines.

Now, the baby girl's father has spoken out, denying any knowledge of the alleged behaviour.

Mamamia cannot legally name the family to protect the identity of the child.

Here's what we can say about the case so far.

The influencer documented her daughter's medical journey on social media, including regular updates about the toddler's alleged illness and significant surgeries. Her social media accounts have since been taken down.

But police claimed it was all an act. They allege the 34-year-old woman gave her baby multiple drugs that caused a cardiac arrest as part of a plan to gain fame and money online.

Listen to the influencer family we can't talk about. Post continues below.

She's accused of giving her baby unauthorised prescription and pharmacy medications between August and October to grow her social media profile.

More than $60,000 was reportedly donated to a fundraiser set up by the woman's family to pay for the child's medical expenses. The fundraiser has since been halted, a GoFundMe spokesperson confirmed to Mamamia.

The court was earlier told the infant had been hospitalised for tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), a genetic condition that results in benign tumours in multiple organs.

Crown prosecutor Jack Scott previously told the court the woman did not accept that her infant had a manageable, non-fatal condition.

"Her actions have created a serious extra symptom… on one occasion suffering a code blue cardiac arrest requiring resuscitation," Scott alleged.

"It's then required the child to have surgeries that the child would have otherwise had at a later point in time."

Police allege that on October 3, 2024, the woman moved a video camera that was monitoring the infant during a brain activity test "to avoid detection" of her actions.

"She was captured on footage with a syringe. She administered via the nasogastric tube (attached to the infant). She used the opportunity while hidden by a blanket," Scott said.

"About 30 to 40 minutes after this incident (the infant) was rendered completely unconscious."

Police allege she concealed her behaviour until hospital staff reported harm against the child to Brisbane detectives when the little girl was admitted in October.

According to The Australian, hospital staff raised the alarm that the girl's illness may allegedly be a case of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder in which a caregiver fakes or produces illness symptoms in their child.

Authorities then tested the infant for unauthorised medication, which allegedly returned a positive result on January 7.

Police arrived at the family's home to arrest the woman on January 16.

She was charged with administering poison with intent to harm, four counts of administering poison with intent to harm and endangering life, making child exploitation material, three counts of preparation to commit crimes, and torture.

At the time, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli described the allegations as "horrific".

Police earlier confirmed the child had been removed from the family's care and was in safe hands with authorities. The Australian reports the child was placed in foster care on October 21.

Baby's father speaks out.

The baby's father — the woman's then-fiancé — has now spoken out, saying he was unaware of the alleged behaviour at the time. He is not accused of any wrongdoing.

"It's hard because everybody keeps saying I should've recognised the signs that… [allegedly] some sort of foul play was going on," he told Nine's A Current Affair on Tuesday.

"The last thing you're ever going to expect is the person that you're head over heels for, [who] you're going to marry, have children with, building a future with — that's not the person you point fingers at.

The man described his relationship with the influencer as "amazing", saying she was "the best mum in the world".

"Everything was wonderful, and she was wonderful, until she wasn't."

In a video he shared with A Current Affair, the man confronts his partner outside their home before her arrest, asking why Tegretol — an anticonvulsant used to control seizures — was in the baby's system. The woman claims she does not know.

The father said he could not say where the $60,000 in donations went.

"A lot of it did go towards what we said it was going towards," he said.

He insisted he had never harmed his daughter, but has since only been allowed visitations with his children, including the baby girl, under supervision.

"I'm still here a year on without being able to put my children to bed... I've lost friends, I've lost family members, I've lost multiple jobs because I'm being accused of something that I didn't do," he said.

But he said his daughter is being cared for by good people.

"She still knows who daddy is, she gets that big, goofy smile when she sees me," he said.

"It might not feel like it now because I don't get to see them very often, but I do love them and I do miss them, and I'm doing everything I can to get them to come home."

The woman was granted bail in January. The case has since been back in court several times, with her solicitor earlier describing it as a "large and complex brief".

The matter was most recently adjourned to November and the woman remained out on bail, per Brisbane Times.
