The Queen's Christmas Day speech might just make reference to royal feud rumours.

It’s been an eventful year for the royal family – there’s been two royal weddings, Prince Louis’ birth, Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement, and in the latter part of the year, rumours of a royal feud between Kate and Meghan, Harry and William, and then Meghan vs everyone, that just won’t go away.

However, in a preview of the Queen’s Christmas Day speech released by the palace, the Queen will use her annual address to call for “peace on Earth and goodwill to all”, noting that it is needed “as much as ever”.

The Christmas broadcast, which was recorded in Buckingham Palace’s white drawing room on December 12, will see the monarch spreading the Christian message: “I believe [Jesus’s] message of peace on Earth and goodwill to all is never out of date. It can be heeded by everyone,” the Queen will say.

As posted on the royal family’s Instagram, the Queen will also emphasise the need to show kindness and respect to others – a seeming subtle nod to the relentless royal rumour mill of ongoing feuds and drama that has dominated the news lately.

“Even with the most deeply held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human being is always a good first step towards greater understanding,” Her Majesty says.

The longest-serving monarch, who has reigned for 66 years, will also stress the importance of being with loved ones, saying: “Through the many changes I have seen over the years – faith, family and friendship have been not only a constant for me but a source of personal comfort and reassurance.”

Which sounds to us that the royals very much enjoy spending Christmas together.

As the theme of the Christmas message is decided by Her Majesty herself – and according to the Telegraph UK, the Queen like to take a “hands on” approach, largely writing the speech herself, and sometimes with the help of Prince Philip – the Queen’s 2018 message of kindness, respect, and spending time with loved ones seems to shut down those rumours of bickering royal family members, as well as offers words of hopes that will resonate with many in a tumultuous year.

Where can I watch the Queen’s Christmas Day speech in Australia?

Officially known as The Queen’s Christmas Message, the speech is broadcast to all 52 Commonwealth nations at 3pm London time (which is 2am the following day in Australia) on Christmas Day. 

The speech is generally around 10 minutes long and can be viewed on the Royals’ Facebook account, YouTube channel, and you can even download the speech as a podcast.
