No fashion ‘faux pas’ has been drilled into the female subconscious mind more than the dreaded ‘who wore it better’ doozy.
On par with a or a nip slip, us women have devised a number of tactics to avoid such a crisis. We find out what our friends are wearing to avoid double ups. We ‘bags’ certain dresses. Some stores even offer specific services to let you know if someone at the same event has purchased/hired the dress you’re eyeing off.
Because heaven forbid two women rock up to an event in the SAME ITEM OF CLOTHING.
Shockingly, Tasmania’s own Crown Princess Mary of Denmark experienced such an incident last week, prompting a national state of emergency.
Arriving at the Magasin du Nord Fashion Prize event in a lovely, long sleeved printed Britt Sisseck dress (which you can nab for yourself for a casual AU $700), the 45-year-old royal discovered her friend, and the event’s hostess, Baroness Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg was also wearing a lovely, long sleeved printed Britt Sisseck dress.
But rather than run for the bathroom like they do in the movies, the two women proceeded to greet each other and pose for photographs together, turning what could have been every woman’s worst fashion nightmare into a funny story they’ll laugh about over a glass of wine.
