The one detail in Prince Louis' birthday post we've never seen before.

You might've noticed Prince Louis' birthday post looked a little different this year.

In celebration of Louis' seventh birthday on Wednesday, the royal family shared an adorable picture of their cheekiest member beaming with a gap-toothed grin.

This year's official birthday portrait featured Louis — dressed in a crisp collared shirt, knitted jumper and jeans — sitting casually on a tree stump, smiling sweetly at the camera and proudly showing off his missing front teeth.

It was a familiar sight: a picture-perfect snap of a royal child shared to mark their special day, as per tradition.

But this time, the adorable portrait wasn't all we got.

In a rare and delightful twist, the photo drop included a video of Louis too — something we don't often see for royal birthdays, especially one this playful and relaxed.

The short clip, posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales' social media, shows the youngest Wales sibling playing outside in the countryside, running through leaves, grinning at the camera and jumping from logs with all the energy you'd expect from a seven-year-old.

"I can jump down from here," he says proudly, showing off his moves before launching himself into the air with glee.

The casual video, likely taken by mum Kate (who's often the one behind the camera for these family moments), is a noticeable departure from the polished stills we usually get for royal birthdays — and fans absolutely loved it.

It's exactly the kind of energy royal watchers have come to expect from Prince Louis. Over the years, he's charmed the public with his cheeky antics at big events — from covering his ears and pulling faces on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee, to being hilariously expressive at King Charles' coronation.

He might be the youngest of the Wales kids, but he's certainly never faded into the background.

Given the spotlight has been especially intense on the royal family this year, particularly following Kate's cancer diagnosis and the couple's more subdued public presence, this joyful glimpse into family life felt like an intentional move to reassure the public: the kids are alright.

It was personal, playful, and gave a little more insight into Louis' personality than a single photo ever could.

Happy birthday, Louis! Keep jumping off logs and making us all smile.
