Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's unconventional first dance song, and other reception gossip.

I have a confession.

I am a 27-year-old advocate of Australia becoming a republic who also cannot stop reading about/talking about/looking at pictures of the royal wedding.

The dress. The children. The preacher. The Harry’s beard. I can’t.

And now the only thing I care about are the details of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception and I refuse to discuss anything else.

After their wedding ceremony and carriage-drawn journey around Windsor that seemed to go for approximately seven years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed to a breakfast with their guests, hosted by the Queen, before their more informal after-party with 200 selected guests at Frogmore House.

According to The Sun, the event was hosted by television host James Corden, who one guest said "compered a dance-off between Harry, Charles and William."

“Everyone was laughing because it’s something no one expected," the source said. "Meghan and her mum also joined in. Then everyone danced, which really kicked off the party.”

The Telegraph reports the royal couple's first dance was to I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston - an unconventional choice given that in 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton had Ellie Goulding perform the much slower ballad Your Song by Elton John for their first dance as husband and wife.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody also reminds me of a) drunken karaoke, and b) bad things happening at 4am, but that's fine.

It's reported that English actor and musician Idris Elba assumed the role of DJ at one stage, playing soul classics, 1960s R&B and 1980s dance hits, while celebrity DJ Sam Totolee was the main DJ, playing Harry's preferred house music.

For more royal wedding content, the Mamamia Out Loud team have huddled together for a raw, unedited, and slightly inappropriate Royal Wedding debrief. Get it in your ears.

The speeches, however, have drawn significant attention, with Meghan thanking Prince Charles for walking her down the aisle, Prince Harry saying he looked forward to "spending the rest of my life" with Meghan, and Prince William teasing his brother for his bald patch.

According to one guest who spoke to The Sun, William said Meghan was the best thing that had ever happened to Harry, and described her as the sister he never had.

All I want are endless photos and videos of the most private moments of the day, but some stupid rule specified that guests had to hand in their phones before the wedding reception, which is super rude to the sacred institution of celebrity gossip.

Still, hopefully details continue to spill out. Because you cannot tell me there wasn't palpable tension between Louis Litt and Harvey Specter at that reception.
