As someone who is currently engaged, approximately 90 per cent of my life is about weddings at the moment.
I have studied vintage-rustic-shabby-chic themes for months now. I can talk about everything from signature cocktails to seating arrangements and bunting to bridal gowns.
But what I can’t tell you is what it’s like after you’re married.
What is that first day post-wedding actually like?
Is there such thing as a wedding hangover? You know, when you wake up and go “wow, that was amazing” then you pause and think “wait – I spent HOW much last night?”
Do you spend the day passed out in utter exhaustion? Or are you so blissfully loved-up that you feel like giddy teenagers again?
Just as an FYI, this post is sponsored by Toyota Rav 4. But all opinions expressed by the author are 100 per cent authentic and written in their own words.
I recently asked some friends and some women in the Mamamia office in an effort to prepare myself for any post-wedding blues I may suffer – and judging by their answers, I’m now looking forward to the calm immediately following the wedding storm.
Here’s how some of the Mamamia team spent the day after their weddings:
“We had to wake up early in the hotel room (we barely had a sleep in) so we could go grab all the decorations from the wedding venue that we didn’t want chucked. We then had to make it back to my parents’ place who were having the “day after lunch” with all the family that came from overseas for the wedding. It was a nice day. The best bit is we were on a plane three days later on our honeymoon. Best decision ever.” – Avi
“The day after our wedding we just checked out of our hotel and went to see family. The day after was kinda boring but we were happy. We left for the honeymoon a few days later.” – Jacqui
