She has never spoken publicly about the royal wedding, before. But now there are a few things she’d like to get off her chest.
Pippa Middleton has come out saying she felt “publicly bullied” after the wedding of her older sister Kate Middleton to Prince William in 2011. Pippa who became an overnight celebrity after the wedding talked about how hard it was to read things about herself that weren’t true.
“It is quite difficult. Because effectively I’m just paving my way and trying to live a life like any 30-year-old. I think people feel they can say something about you online or on a web page when they would never say it to your face but they think that’s okay. It’s been difficult” said Pippa.
When questioned about the much talked about Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the wedding, Pippa said she was “embarrassed” by the media storm that erupted over the appearance of her backside. “You know, I think the plan was not really for it to be a significant dress. Really just to sort of blend in with the train” she said.
Pippa added that she wasn’t aware of the magnitude of the event and that she saw it as “just a family wedding”. “And actually, I didn’t realise, perhaps, the scale of it until afterwards… We all took on the roles as any family would.” said Pippa.
Despite this, Pippa does believe she has been granted more opportunities as a result of her royal connection. “I’ve had amazing opportunities and I feel very fortunate to have opportunities and to have access to things that maybe I wouldn’t necessarily” she said.
