A pilot has been removed from a flight after "ranting" over the intercom.

There are a few choice phrases you don’t want to hear a pilot say over the airplane intercom. Any including the words “brace” or “turbulance” normally don’t go down too well.

Neither do personal or political rants, it seems.

A pilot was removed from United Airlines flight 455 from Texas to San Francisco over the weekend after she launched into a tirade over the intercom about her divorce and President Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton also scored a mention during the transmission, which saw at least one passenger try and walk off the flight.

Passenger Pam O’Neal told Reuters the pilot asked everyone to vote on whether or not she should change into her uniform.

“She shows up dressed like a civilian and asks to us to take a vote to see whether she should change into her uniform or fly as is,” O'Neal told Reuters. The pilot then called both President Trump and Clinton 'a-holes', saying, "she had not voted for either Trump or Clinton because they're a bunch of liars."

"It just really sort of went downhill from there and didn't make a lot of sense to any of us," O'Neal said.

O'Neal told KPIX TV the pilot called Trump and Clinton "a bunch of liars", saying the pilot made little sense to any of the passengers.

Tweets by passenger Randy Reiss throughout the incident showed how disturbing it was for those on board. One read, "I'm shaking right now."

Reiss says he saw the pilot being spoken to in the terminal. He says she began to cry and apologised to him, at which point he wished her well.

"She was crying. She apologized. I wished her well & said I hope she gets the help she needs," Reuters reports.

The pilot went on to explain that she was going through a divorce, and spotted an interracial couple in the first-class section. "Yay unity," she said.

Seemingly understanding she was making passengers uncomfortable, the unidentified pilot assured passengers she wouldn't be flying the plane. "Don't worry, I'm gonna let my co-pilot fly it. He's a man. Okay?"

At this point the pilot laughs and then says, "If you don't feel safe, get off the airplane, but otherwise we can go, okay, this is all set up."

The pilot was removed from the flight and replaced, but not before the flight was delayed for 90 minutes. United Airlines told Fortune they hold their employees "to the highest standards", saying, "We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience."
