Sophie Turner just confessed to a toxic dating habit. But there's a reason she does it.

Sophie Turner has faced a turbulent few years. Following her 2023 divorce announcement from singer Joe Jonas, the actress found herself at the center of public scrutiny

At the time, an unfounded narrative was pushed that Turner was a reckless party girl and a negligent mother, while Joe was heralded as the devoted dad. The couple share two daughters together, Willa and Delphine.

It was a narrative sparked by nothing more than photos of Turner having some drinks at a wrap party, which was around the same time her divorce made headlines (god forbid a heartbroken girl enjoys some work drinks).

She later described this period after her divorce as "the worst few days" of her life.

"There were some days that I didn't know if I was going to make it," Sophie, now 29, told British Vogue in June 2024.

The Game of Thrones actor said she found "the strength" to go on for her kids. She moved back to England and lent on her female friends for support, which coincidentally included another of Joe Jonas' exes, Taylor Swift.

And while Turner and Jonas had a temporarily strained relationship post divorce, the exes have managed to build a positive co-parenting arrangement, and are now publicly supportive of one another. Turner even encouraged her Instagram followers to check out Jonas' new song in May this year.

Now in a better place, Turner is promoting her latest film Trust. And she is getting candid about her dating life in the process.

Appearing on BuzzFeed, the actress responded to "Thirst Tweets," a segment where fans post chaotically thirsty statuses about Turner.

When the 29-year-old read one particular tweet aloud, "I would let Sophie crack me like an egg and ghost me after," she made a candid confession of her own.

She admitted she has been known to ghost people.

"That is actually what I do all the time," she said. "I'm a big ghoster, which is not something I'm proud of. I'm saying it with a smile, I'm not proud of that. But I do like to do that quite a lot."

She went on to explain that ghosting gives her a "sense of power".

"I don't know if I should be saying this on camera," she added. "I think I need to just work on that in therapy."

As someone who has heard friends recount the horrors and pain of ghosting, what Turner shared struck home.

Being ghosted feels like having a conversation suddenly cut off mid-sentence, leaving you staring at your phone in a strange limbo between hope and hurt, wondering if you imagined the connection that seemed so real just moments before.

To know there is an element of power-play here, well, it makes sense.

There's something refreshing about the way Turner admits it. She's not dressing it up, she's not pretending it's harmless, she's straight-up calling herself out, on camera.

We're not here to judge her for it (who amongst us hasn't made a messy dating move or two?). If anything, we love a self-reflective queen who can own her flaws and still be working on them.

Turner is currently dating British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson. The pair were first spotted together in 2023 when The Sun photographed them kissing on the streets of Paris. They reunited later that same day at the Rugby World Cup final, where Turner unveiled the trophy as part of her Louis Vuitton ambassadorship.

They were again spotted by paparazzi in December that year, this time in London.

Turner eventually confirmed their relationship with a birthday tribute in October 2024. Sharing a slew of photos with Pearson, Turner wrote: Happy Birthday my angel pie. 30, flirty and thriving."

Pearson is a British aristocrat whose family is worth £224 million (AU$466m), according to The Sun. He is heir of the 4th Viscount Cowdray — no, I don't know what that means but it sounds fun — and he previously dated King Charles' goddaughter, model Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark.

He's reportedly set to inherit the Pearson empire, which is one of the largest education companies and book publishers in the world. He currently works as the director of a property development company in London.

For Turner, life looks very different now than it did just a couple of years ago. She's gone from surviving the harsh glare of public judgment to thriving on her own terms, co-parenting with grace, owning her flaws, and opening herself up to love again.

And if there's one thing this chapter proves, it's that Turner isn't just rebuilding after heartbreak, she's rewriting the narrative entirely.
