They dedicated themselves to the family chicken shop for 29 years. Their son allegedly killed them.

As one of Penrith's most popular takeaway shops, locals of the much-loved Buzzy Bee's Burger House said, "They dedicated their lives to this place".

The 69-year-old man and his wife, 68, ran the shop seven days a week for 29 years and soon hoped to retire.

But yesterday morning, the beloved shop owners were found murdered inside Buzzy Bee's Burger House in what police described as a "confronting scene".

Police were called to the Oxford Street shop when it's believed one of the couple's sons discovered the bodies of the couple, found with multiple stab wounds.

"It's a confronting scene. The welfare of our officers is being addressed and we have systems in place for that," he said.

"I'm aware that there's footage around on social media and we are looking into that… it shows a male in the vicinity."

Police believe the couple were killed in the morning, between 7am and 8:15am.

In the dawn hours of Sunday morning, NSW Police arrested 31-year-old Allan Chiem, who is understood to be the couple's son, at a home in Canley Heights.

He's been charged with two counts of murder, with police alleging it was a targeted attack. It's belived that Chiem had been living with his parents and working as a bookeeper prior to the murder.

He refused bail and did not appear at a hearing in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

The Cambridge Park community is in mourning — and the shopfront of Buzzy Bee's Burger House on Oxford Street has now been covered with flowers, cards and tributes to the local couple.

"For 29 years, seven days a week, rain, hail or shine, they dedicated their lives to this place," a handwritten note read.

"They didn't deserve this. I pray you both rest easy. We are hurting, we will miss you," another note read.

More to come.
