'We are over the moon.' Paris Hilton shares her son's name, after keeping him a secret from her family.

Last month, Paris Hilton broke the internet with a picture of 10 fingernails.

The 42-year-old shared a photo of her holding a baby's hand on Instagram, while confirming to People magazine that she and her husband, Carter Reum have welcomed a little baby boy.

"It's always been my dream to be a mother and I'm so happy that Carter and I found each other," Paris told People. "We are so excited to start our family together and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy."

The photo was simply captioned with: "You are already loved beyond words."

Paris' announcement came as a surprise to many – including Chrissy Teigen who commented: "A BABY??!!! Congratulations so happy for you both!!"

A month on, Paris has now revealed her baby boy's name. 

During an episode on her This Is Paris podcast, she revealed she named her son Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, while reading an excerpt from her upcoming book Paris: The Memoir.

"We plan to name him Phoenix. A name that I decided on years ago when I was searching cities, countries and states on a map looking for something to go with Paris and London," she shared. 

"Phoenix has a few good pop culture reference points but more important, it's the bird that flames out and then rises from the ashes to fly again. I want my son to grow up knowing that disaster and triumph go around and come around throughout our lives and that this should give us great hope for the future."

During the episode, Paris explained she "made a pact" with Carter to initially keep her son, who she welcomed via surrogate, a secret from their families. 

"Not even my mum or my sister or my best friends, no one knew literally until he was over a week old."

"I just feel that my life has been so public and I've never really had anything just be mine. I feel like my life in so many ways have just been invaded."

Prais said her mother was "so surprised" when she eventually introduced her to Phoenix.

"Just the look on her face, it was priceless," she recalled. 

Sharing an update on motherhood so far, Paris said her son "is such a precious angel and we are just over the moon and so in love with him."

The 42-year-old previously spoke to Harper's Bazaar about the decision to keep her son's birth a secret, saying, "We decided that we wanted to have this whole experience to ourselves."

"I want to protect him and to be with him every second... You have this mother instinct that kicks in, which I've never had before."

Paris has always been open about wanting to become a mum – sharing last year that she and her husband had started doing IVF to conceive during the height of COVID lockdowns.   

"We started going and doing it like a few months in because the world was shut down," she told People. "We knew we wanted to start a family, and I was like, 'This is perfect timing. Usually, I'm on a plane 250 days out of the year, and let's just get all of the eggs stocked and ready,' and we have tonnes of them just waiting."

Paris and Carter Reum got engaged back in February 2021 after a year of dating, and famously tied the knot in a three-day long wedding in November of the same year.

Their ceremony was aired in a TV special called Paris in Love.

Speaking of their nuptials, Paris said: "I love being married. I just feel like I finally found my perfect match and I just feel so safe. I finally have my home and I just can't wait to start a family and have kids."

In the same interview, she shared that she and Carter "would love to have twins," with the aim being "three or four children" overall.
