The Outlander prequel series is coming to Stan, here are all the first images and teaser trailer.

Stan has announced the premiere date for Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the highly anticipated prequel to the beloved global phenomenon that is Outlander.

The series will premiere on August 9, exclusively on Stan in Australia, and chronicles the events that led to the Outlander TV series, which ran for eight seasons and starred Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan. Outlander was based on the best-selling books of the same name by Diana Gabaldon.

As a refresher, Outlander told the story of Claire Randall (Balfe), who was visiting Inverness, Scotland in 1945 when she was carried back in time to 1743 by the stone circle at Craigh na Dun. It was there that she met and fell in love with Jamie Fraser (Heughan).

Outlander: Blood of My Blood tells the story of lead couple Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine); as well as Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy). Over the episodes it charts an epic dual romance across time — from the brutal realities of World War 1 to the majestic, untamed Highlands of 18th-century Scotland.

According to Stan, these are stories of passion, courage and defiance, as young lovers fight to hold onto each other in the face of war, family and fate.

The prequel both expands and deepens the Outlander universe and introduces a new generation of characters — an offering to the show's dedicated fans that dives into the origin stories of some of the most beloved characters from the original series.

The series shines new light on the legendary love of Claire and Jamie Fraser, and reveals the families and legacies that shaped them.

In addition to Corfield, Irvine, Slater and Roy portraying the parents of Outlander's iconic central couple, Outlander: Blood of My Blood features Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat; Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie; Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie; Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser; and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Outlander creators and producers Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg. The series is produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

The Stan Exclusive Series Outlander: Blood of my Blood premieres August 9, and will be followed by new episodes every Saturday, only on Stan in Australia.
