Talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey has come under fire for sharing a social media post that has her fans convinced she is supporting Donald Trump.
Winfrey posted an image of Trump meeting current President Barack Obama on Twitter, along with a caption that read: “Everybody take a deep breath. Hope lives.”
The 62-year-old has previously expressed her support of Hilary Clinton and the democratic party.
The perceived support has seen the star lampooned by fans and fellow celebrities.
Actor Patton Oswalt expressed his shock at the sentiment, with a dig at the talk show host’s “favourite things” segment.
“Oprah, what the f***? This is not one of my favourite things,” he tweeted.
Actress Heather Matarazzo was similarly unimpressed, and hit out at Winfrey with a strong reminder of the people this election may affect.
“Oprah, you can take a deep breath and hold it while the rest of us literally fight for our lives right now,” she said.
June Diane Raphael of Grace & Frankie fame told the star the election had already begun to affect the children of minority groups.
“Oprah, please do not normalise this man. Minority children are already being targeted,” she said.
Ardent anti-Trump comic Walter Kamau Bell expressed his anger at the perceived support with very few words.
“I… but… no…” he tweeted.
