It’s hard to imagine a situation in life in which Oprah would feel unsure of herself.
The queen of day-time television, philanthropist and media business mogul has interviewed countless “intimidating” celebrities and public figures, asking the tough questions without so much as blinking.
The woman even handled Tom Cruise’s mid-life crisis/love jump/I-don’t-even-know-what episode like the seasoned pro she is.
So when we found out a woman as accomplished and groundbreaking as Oprah still feels intimidated at work from time to time, we sighed with relief. You guys, she really is just like us. (Minus the millions, etc.)
Speaking to People magazine, the Academy Award nominated actress admitted she experienced self-doubt in relation to her role in her new film, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
"I’d never played a role like that and nor have I done it enough to feel really solidly comfortable in the space," she said.
Turning to her friend and co-star Reese Witherspoon for advice, Oprah said: "It’s rare that I feel intimated, but I felt intimidated."
"I was on set the other day with Wrinkle in Time and I said to Reese, ‘So Reese, how many movies have you done?’ and she said, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know … Hundreds, I don’t know.’"
"So I was like 'Oh God, please don’t ask me how many movies I’ve done.'"
