“Dad I wish you were here so we could have fun together.”
Those are the simple, tender, heartbreaking words of a little boy named Alexander, penned on a dusty note to his late father.
“I wish you a Merry Christmas I hope you tell God to give me those presents.”
The note, attached to a beautiful photo of Alexander with his parents, was found tied to a helium balloon in Suzanne Womac Edwards’ garden.
“I hope you are happy in heaven,” it read. “If you are OK then tell me. I love you, Alexander.”
Upon finding it, the mother shared the image to Facebook. Of it, she told her friends: “A helium balloon floated into my yard today and landed on my heart! Attached was a note that made me cry and hug my family a little tighter.”
In hope of finding Alexander and reassuring him that his father “is ok and he is happy”, Suzanne wrote “I am certain that your daddy didn’t want to leave you or cause you to feel lonely or sad.”
Somehow, remarkably, the message got back to Alexander’s mother, who Suzanne said was “very touched by my post”.
“She said [Alexander] had a tear of joy and was so glad to know his dad is happy. She called the experience a miracle.”
