Fifty years after the birth of one of the most popular sports brands ever, Phil Knight, the chairman of Nike has ended the debate on how you’re actually supposed to pronounce it.
And it turns out a lot of us have been doing it wrong this whole time.
Some curious English advertising students Kendal Peters and Ben Martin sent a letter to Knight asking if the brand was pronounced “Nike” or “Nike-y.”
The students gave Knight the option to circle the correct pronunciation in the letter and the answer may actually surprise you.
Thus another hotly debated matter is put to rest, and the world can once again try to regain a sense of normalcy.
Were you pronouncing Nike right this whole time?
