The most surprising detail from Nicole Kidman’s divorce document.

In news that has shaken the celebrity world, Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from husband Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage.

On August 29, Urban got their marital dissolution agreement notarised and signed off on the parenting plan, per the doc obtained by E! News. The document detailed that Kidman would "institute divorce proceedings against" Urban.

On September 6, Kidman notarized and signed the same agreement.

It wasn't until September 30 — a day after the news broke of a reported split — that Kidman filed for divorce in a Tennessee court in Davidson County, with the filing listing the date of separation as September 30.

According to People, the marital dissolution agreement read that Kidman and Urban "have experienced marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences."

It has been widely reported — with multiple sources cited — that the split was Urban's decision, with reports that Kidman had made attempts to salvage the marriage before she filed.

In the following days, the rumour mill has exploded with countless anonymous sources coming forward to list all the reasons the beloved celebrity couple might have experienced marital woes.

But in hindsight, there were subtle signs that all was not well between the couple in the months leading up to the divorce filing.

For instance, Nicole posted a loving dedication to Keith in June to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary, but Keith did not share anything for the milestone — instead, the country star left a single heart emoji on his wife's post. The pair haven't appeared together publicly since June, when they were both photographed at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Nashville, but without showing any PDA. In a family gallery shared by Nicole in August, Keith wasn't featured in any of the holiday snaps.

Kidman and Urban have become a power couple since meeting in 2005, getting married in 2006 and welcoming two daughters together.

But what do we actually know about the biggest divorce in Hollywood right now? Away from the media speculation and unsubstantiated claims, this is all the information that's come directly from Kidman and Urban.

Kidman and Urban will both remain in Nashville, living in separate homes, and a custody arrangement has been finalised for their daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Nicole will be the "primary residential parent" for the girls, with Keith given allotted parenting time from Saturday 10am to Sunday 6pm on every other weekend. As per the parenting plan signed by both parties, Sunday and Faith will spend 306 days with their mother and 59 days with their father each year.

The celebs will take turns having their children over the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays, with Kidman taking odd-numbered years and Keith taking even-numbered years. Kidman will have the girls for Easter and Mother's Day while Keith will take Father's Day.

The plan stipulated that they would maintain a positive relationship with each other for the sake of the children.

Kidman and Urban agreed they would "behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent, and nurturing relationship with each child even though they are divorced. They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families."

All major choices affecting the girls will be jointly made by the parents, which will cover matters concerning educational, non-emergency healthcare, religious and extracurricular decisions.

Both parties have opted out of paying "any amount and/or form of alimony or spousal support to the other," as the total amount ordered by both parties to assist with childcare is listed as $0.

As for child support, Urban has already paid Kidman "all sums for his share of nanny and other childcare-related expenses, private school expenses, and extracurricular expenses for the minor children through the date each child reaches the age of majority and graduates high school," per the agreement.

In a child support worksheet prepared by Nicole's lawyer as part of the custody agreement, Nicole and Keith's monthly income was listed as $100,000 each ($151,000 AUD), per the docs obtained by E! News.

The agreement adds, "Each party has significant separate assets and more than sufficient means to independently care and provide for both minor children while in his or her care."

As for the couple's other assets, like their multimillion-dollar property portfolio, the divorce papers note that neither Kidman or Urban "owns real property titled in his or her individual name", but rather holds property "through trusts, limited liability companies and/or other entities."

Kidman and Urban's agreement stipulates that "The parties acknowledge that, to the best of their knowledge, there are no assets owned by them, either jointly or individually, and that they have no interest in any assets, which are not reflected and addressed by the terms of this Agreement."

Other assets have already been divided. "All household furniture, furnishings, appliances, art, and other items of personal property have been divided to the mutual satisfaction of the parties," the filing states.

"Each party is awarded his or her own clothing, jewellery and personal items, free and clear of any and all claims of the other party."

This extends to ownership over Kidman and Urban's creative works, such as scripts, songs, designs, films, compositions and other artistic materials. Both have agreed to retain full ownership of their individual creative works, whether conceived before or during their marriage.

The divorce contract has even divided the couple's points and credit card debt. "Each party shall be and is awarded all rights, title and interest in any and all hotel, airline and credit card points listed in his or her name as well as all hotel, airline and credit card points associated with all debt accounts," the agreement states.

Neither Kidman nor Urban has publicly commented on their divorce. We will keep updating this story as more information comes to hand.
