Thirteen months on from the death of Aaron Carter, his sister Bobbie Jean Carter also died. Her passing marked the third loss of a Carter sibling, leaving behind Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and sister Angel.
She was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her home in Florida on December 24, 2023 and then immediately taken to hospital, PEOPLE reported. In February 2024, her cause of death was revealed as "intoxication by the combined effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine," according to a report released by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Department, seen by PEOPLE. Her manner of death was listed as accidental.
At the time of her death, Bobbie Jean was on probation for cocaine possession. However, Bobbie Jean's roommates told officers she had not used any narcotics since her release from prison in early November 2023.
She was held for two months after allegedly stealing stickers and markers from a store while also allegedly being found in possession of fentanyl and was charged with drug possession and retail theft.
