Two and a half years ago, in June 2015, a completely unknown couple threatened to get a divorce.
“My wife and I just celebrated our 10-year anniversary. But later this year, we may be getting a divorce,” Nick Jensen wrote from City News.
“My wife is the only woman I have ever loved, the mother of our children, my perfect match,” he continued.

“My wife and I, as a matter of conscience, refuse to recognise the government’s regulation of marriage if its definition includes the solemnisation of same sex couples.”
Jensen wrote that when they signed their marriage certificate, they were endorsing the current definition of marriage. And if that changes, marriage is “not something in which we are able to partake”.
Overnight, Jensen’s pledge went viral.
