Ne-Yo was once 'So Sick' of love songs. Now he's in a polyamorous relationship with 4 women.

If you were anything like me in 2006, for one, you would have been nine years old. And two, you would have been repeatedly blasting Ne-Yo's song 'So Sick' (courtesy of a So Fresh CD).

In fact, the song could be heard so often from your room that your family would grow genuinely concerned that your nine-year-old heart had been broken. (It hadn't; I was just dramatic from a young age.)

Nineteen years later and I have barely thought of the song (or Ne-Yo, for that matter) since that fateful week in 2006 (well, save for when One Direction's Niall Horan chose it for his X Factor audition song — then it got another week of play on my iPod touch).

Recently, however, the R&B singer has been thrust back into my consciousness after he was filmed kissing three separate women after his show, with the poster claiming he was dating *checks notes*… all of them simultaneously.

After some digging, it turns out that the Let Me Love You singer is in a polyamorous relationship with four women: OnlyFans models Bella and Phoenix Feather, dancer Brionna Williams, and Arielle Hill.

He confirmed this on a recent episode of the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, saying: "There's four of them total. There were just three there that particular night. It works. It works. Everybody's honest, everybody's telling the truth. Everybody's consenting."

Ne-Yo, whose birth name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, added that the relationship "isn't about juggling" but rather about open communication.

"The key ingredient to making it work is honesty. Everybody gotta be telling the truth, you know what I mean?"

And yes, his seven children have many questions about Ne-Yo's unconventional relationship. But the father insists that he is very transparent with them about the arrangement.

"I answer them. Honestly. Again, I'm not lying to nobody, not even my children," he said. "It's like, 'Hey, this is daddy's girlfriend. And so is that, and so is that. And so is that.'"

Each partner, said the Closer singer, has a role in his household. He explained that he will tell his kids, "'She gonna make you some cereal. She gonna cook lunch. And she gonna wash your clothes.' And it's all good."

Ne-Yo became a father in 2010 with former fiancée Monyetta Shaw-Carter, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Together they share two children — daughter Madilyn Grace (born in 2010) and son Mason Evan (born in 2011).

The singer-songwriter later expanded his family with Crystal Renay, whom he married in 2016 and divorced in 2023. They had three children: son Shaffer Chimere Jr, who arrived in 2016, son Roman Alexander-Raj, born two years later in 2018, and daughter Isabella Rose, who joined the family in 2021.

The musician's two youngest children came from his relationship with social media personality Sade Jenea Bagnerise — son Braiden, born in 2021, and son Brixton, who arrived in 2023.

In July 2022, Renay took to social media to announce their separation, accusing Ne-Yo of infidelity.

Her Instagram caption read: "8 years. 8 years of lies and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and my husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected… every last one of them!

"To say I'm heartbroken and disgusted is a[n] understatement," she continued. "To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn't. I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect."

In response, Ne-Yo released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) saying he and his family "will work through [their] challenges behind closed doors".

"Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family's privacy at this time."

While Ne-Yo has been monogamous in the past, in 2024, he told Lemon Drop The Show that he finally feels he is being "true" to himself in his polyamorous relationship.

"I am not s**tting on marriage," he said "I'm not s**tting on anyone who has figured out how to make that thing work for them. Again, everything's not for everybody."

The singer added: "As long as my happy ain't messing with anybody else's happy, I'm in the right place. I'll be damned if I ever go back to that person that needed to lie for the appeasement of somebody else. I'm not that no more."

That same year, he told TMZ: "I feel like, in the realm of love and romance, you should let people do whatever the hell they want to do. Can't see how it's hurting anybody."
