The man and his wife consulted doctors after unsuccessfully trying to have a baby. The doctors found the man was producing enough sperm – but those sperm were suffering from heat damage. They recommended the man start using a desk instead of his lap – and his wife was pregnant three months later. (NB: This is not the man.) A new anti-smoking campaign launched by the Federal Government over the weekend will target pregnant women and indigenous Australians. Latest figures suggest one in seven women smoke during pregnancy – but that figure is as high as half for indigenous women. The television and print ads highlight the dangers of smoking while pregnant and offers support online and via a smartphone app. Health Minister Tanya Plibersek said: 'Education and support are the best way forward for helping people give up. According to the researchers ‘70 percent of the male and female respondents said that the IVF had hurt their sexual relationship.’ The study’s author, Jody Lyneé Madeirab, told the Huffington Post: ‘Women undergoing IVF report much lower scores in sexual interest, desire, orgasm, satisfaction, sexual activity and overall sexual function….Sex becomes mechanical and enforced: a means to an end, rather than a source of pleasure.’ Corporal Daniel Keighran received Australia’s highest military honour when the Governor General Quentin Bryce presented him with the Victoria Cross. British experts are warning that for every woman who is saved by a breast cancer screening, three are treated for cancer that never would have harmed them.
